"Camaro is being brought back as a sports car."

I shudder at the idea that it might have been brought back as anything but.

This was a nice Headline to wake up to today. I listen to the radio a lot during the day. I try to stay away from the business stations but, often fall victim. The Camaro is mentioned a lot. It's nice to see (or hear) the exceitment. Everyone involved just needs to keep their eye on quality. Some may be comming back to a GM product for the first time in many years. THEY can't afford to blow it. I'm sure that is well known.

I suspect they want to build up some inventory, just in case there's a plant shutdown at the end of the month.

O/T is not voluntary although if you ask early enough, you might be able to get a double-shifter or student to work on the line.

The plant will also run during the first week of summer shutdown effectively canceling your vacation plans if you had any. Ist time I've seeen them do this in 20 years!!!

Generally, people aren't too happy with any of this. Keep in mind that the average age of these workers is around 55 and that most of the jobs on the flex line are TERRIBLE.

Or maybe they're behind by 19,000 cars?

That's entirely aside from the fact that it's very likely the plant will shut down soon. How many cars did Chrysler build last week?

Anyway, the Camaro is arriving not a moment too soon.

Chrysler doesn't have the demand for their vehicles so that's the biggest reason why they're down. Many GM plants are shutdown till july, it all depends on market demand.

Bankruptcy at GM is very likely but you'd think that if they're 19,000 units behind, they won't be doing themselves and their customers any favor by shutting down.

Do you have any idea how long it takes to catch up 19,000 units?

So it is FORCED o/t then? Huh. I would have thought there would be enough people to cover a shift (volunteers) without forcing people, but I guess not, considering all the cuts that have been made recently, eh? .

Even still, I'd rather deal with the "problem" of too much work right now, as opposed to not enough.
