Fuel economy announcement!!!
Good numbers especially for the V6 where that will be far more important. GM has done a great job on that car and I hope they are rewarded with good sales.
I only care about fuel economy from a performance car if I'm taking it on a trip.

I have to say that I'm impressed. I was expecting numbers closer to 18 city and 24 (canadian) miles per gallon.
Once the engine is broken in with a CAI kit and high flow exhaust, we could potentially see numbers of 22 / 32 +, which is great. This is what my Grand Prix with the 3.8 gets.
edit: Is 3860 pounds still the official number for the 2SS?

I feel that 29mpg highway is a pretty incredible accomplishment for GM out of this car. Definately class leading and impressive that it is both manual/automatic. However, knowing times are tough with GM, im wondering if the car should have been tweaked, whatever necessary to squeeze atleast one model to 30mpg highway. One of their major add campains is/was promoting how many cars they make getting 30mpg or better. I think that that extra 1mpg would have been huge as far as advertising and all this "green" thing/ crazy gas prices going on.
Maybe im incorrect in my thinking but its the first thought that came to me after calming down from the initial exitement about seeing the rating of 29mpg.

You just know that the engineers tried their damndest to get that last MPG out of the car, the V6 especially. I wonder which model they used to get those numbers? A 1LT with no spoiler, aluminum 18" wheels, and very few options?
I am sure that EVERYBODY involved would have LOVED it if the Camaro could have hit the magic 30MPG mark.
That's what the 2.0T/6M Genesis Coupe is expected to get on the highway.

. Anything UNDER 10 L/100km is good
. Pretty much the best I've ever gotten out of my '02 has been 10, but typically I'm running in the 12.5 - 13.0 range.
im kinda surprised the auto, with the active fuel management, only gets 1 mpg hwy better that the manual. isnt the whole point of putting the l99 into the auto camaro, to get more MPG? 16 on the streets for both and 24hwy-manual and 25hwy auto? i figured it might be a lot more than stick.

I am not 100% sure about the 0.562:1 ratio. The TR6060 comes in two versions, and the other version has a 0.500:1 ratio. Either way, the manual has a ratio advantage.
This is balanced out somewhat by the lower 6th gear ratio in the manual (0.562:1) than the automatic (0.667:1).

Just another example of how far technology has brought refinement to the V8. It seems we have reached the appex of V8 efficiency with current technological levels. With CAFE requirements increasing the death of the V8 is near, baring some major technological leap. Though none of us probably based our Camaro purchase decision on mileage, it is nice that it is as high as it is (esp. since the V8's take premium). Let's enjoy the V8 while we can!!!
