Few more new winter pics in town
why don't you make the comparison to say a peterbuilt or a cement mixing truck or a honda S2000?
its a totally different vehicle built by different people in a different plant. the only similarities are that its rear wheel drive with a front mounted engine.
your mustang with whatever the hell options getting stuck has zero to do with a camaro with whatever the hell options getting stuck, why even bother attempting to make the connection?

Here's the trick to the 4th gen.
One -- Traction control
Two -- Goodyear RSA tires -- or better yet, snow tires. GSCs and F1s are for performance driving -- not snow.
Three -- about 200 pounds in the back.
The Traction control system on the LS1 is by Bosch -- and a lot of time and money was spent to make the 4th gen driveable in snow.
I have footage (somewhere) of a Taurus, an Intrepid, and a Z28 on an 18 degree slope with simulated ice.......Taurus sits and spins front tires -- Intrepid actually slides backwards down the slope......and the Z28 very slowly climbs the hill.
Mom Settlemire drives her 2002 Camaro year-'round -- with RSAs and traction control.......in Pittsburgh which is known for hills.
(it's the red one in the picture below...)

At the risk of digressing, now that I'm driving a FWD G5 I find that I'm a little less sure than of my TA - and not just because it's a new car. I think it feels a little more ragged toward the end of it's control - like it could break loose catastrophically, rather than being controllable like my WS6 was. Might just be me.....
But the real question is - who's doing the TCS on the 5th gen, and will a v8 be as drivable in the snow as a v8 4th gen? Oh, and I (for one) would LOVE to see that footage you mention!
I don't know any of the details about the Mustang system. You can use Google, right? Go find out for yourself. See what you can find out about who designed the Mustang's traction control system and how much of a priority it was for winter performance.
I've seen lots of Mustangs in the ditch this winter. Saw one yesterday, actually. I have yet to see a single Camaro in a ditch this winter.

I've had both a mustang and a camaro.
My camaro was essentially undrivable in snow, with the low and long front overhang getting caught, the lower ride height getting hung up, and more of an issue getting started because of the sharper throttle tip in. It also snap oversteered far more.
My mustang (it was a cobra so NOT optimised for winter at all) got around perfectly even with the summer tires on it, didn't get caught up nearly as easily, and was much easier to get started in because the throttle was more progressive.
The camaro has been at a disadvantage in the snow for a couple generations now, because the mustang was simply not as optimized for on-road performance. It wasn't as long and low to the ground, the overhangs were better, and it wasn't running as wide of tires (which make snow worse) The Mustang has long been an everyday GT car, fast, but not particularly single-minded. The camaro had higher performance and more trade-offs.
This looks to no longer be the case with the new generation, since the body shape and overhangs for the two cars are very similar now. But the Camaro will still perform better

What year was your Camaro? Did it have traction control?

I drove my old 2000 A4 Z28 up here in a couple snowy winters of Chicago and NEVER had a problem with it in the snow. And that was on GSC's and with NO extra weight added to the hatch! As long as you drive carefully (slow) and know how to play with the throttle, RWD 4th gens are not that bad. Same thing with my old '95 A4 Z28...On BFG Traction TA's, it was fine through one long winter...
BTW, I see the new spy pics and I'm still going to have to reserve judgement until I see the actual production model in person. It took me a long time to warm up to the concept (even then, I've never been crazy about it), and I'm still just not that impressed by the styling or what I've seen in most photos. I wanted a 'new' Camaro in the worst way after the 4th gen was discontinued, but this now remains to be seen...
