"The Family Portrait" - A picture from the FBodfather

I was talking with Scott Settlemire and he sent me this image he calls "The Family Portrait", showing that they are paying attention to every single detail, visual and otherwise.

Why did they include that black strip over the door on this car?

Looks to be weatherstripping/trim to keep draining water from going in the door. It's probably an early build (IVER?) car, so it isn't body colored.

Man, there looks to be a ton of room between the radiator and the backside of the fascia. Assuming it doesn't have an aux transmission cooler (and this is a manual), there will be PLENTY of room (with good airflow) for a good sized low temperature radiator for a supercharged powertrain. That's going to make some people very happy.

Actually, it's a Beta build -- (much earlier than an IVER....)

Are you talking about the black strip that runs from front to rear on the roof over the door?
If you are, I think most cars have that nowadays.
We refer to that area as the "ditch" and the black molding as a "ditch molding".
That's where the door ring and the roof panel mate. There's a big seam there, so the manufacturers use that seam to keep water off of the side windows. It eliminates the gutters that cars used to use.
They then put the molding in there to give extra sealing and to hide the seam.
I've never seen one body colored but I guess anything is possible.

Take a look at most newer cars and I think you'll find the ditch moldings on most of them and they will probably be black.

Ok, so it's a Beta car. The program should have just completed IVER stage though, right? I would think final chassis/suspension delevepment (NBR) would use IVER vehicles, but I've never really paid attention to that before. I was always worried about the Beta cars (usually the build that goes through vehicle durability).

Would you rather have a drip rail like the 1st gens? I wouldn't.
