Easier or Harder to break rear end/driveshaft..
C5's / C6's seem to do pretty well with IRS in the back
. I think the diff is something along the lines of a Dana rear?
Basically, the gears are almost bullet-proof, it's just the axles (half-shafts) that are more likely the "weak link" but even then, I haven't heard of too many problems. Although I think the Camaro IRS is going to be more along the lines of the '04 - '06 GTO, but again, I think it's been discussed, and I don't "think" there have been too many "problems" so to speak with the GTO's?????

Sticky tires+agressive launch=broken parts, even with upgrades....
I was hoping for something along the lines of the Mustangs 8.8 so we'd have one less piece to break.....

But I think you're right, the GTO is a somewhat stronger piece. (except the camber changes as the suspension squats, moving the contact patch to the inside of the tire....)
