Great experience and great story thanks for sharing.

I'm sure it had to be a real shocker and very exciting to see the Camaro mule be unloaded from the truck.

I get the feeling from the pics that we have seen the Camaro sits low and has a low overall height. Which I like and I'm glad you could verifiy this in person.

So in the Automatic car with the paddle shifters how did the interior look overall. Not the minute details but did the interior flow with the car and did it seem different in person that what we've seen in pics? How was the seat bolstering?

I seem to recall my '69 Z/28 weighing around 3,350.

I'm pretty sure that's the base model with the V6. The V8 car weighed more along with some extra options that added weight.

probably true, but in the original post it wasnt stated which 69 the 5th gen weighed more then... did he mean heavier than the heaviest possible 69? i dunno, open to interpretation

Yes the numbers for other trims were low 3000s, but for some reason the Z28 is quoted at 3765lbs from multiple sources. Whether or not that is true I don't know. I didn't think it makes much sense since the ZL1 was 3368. I can't imagine the Z28 being 400 lbs heavier than it.

Well, something certainly does not sound right, the ZL1 even with aluminum engine parts still would have weighed more than a SBC Z/28 engine, and I sure can't imagine that they stripped off any other weight on a ZL1. I remember well that my '69 Z/28 was around 3350 lbs. because at the price I paid for it in '69 it cost me right at a dollar a lb.!! Anyway, it sounded like a great time was had by all who went and perhaps a few tidbits of info "sort of" confirmed.

I found some numbers on the '67...

http://www.firstgencamaro.com/1967camarofacts.html

Chevrolet listed curb weights for the 1967 Camaro as 2,910 pounds for the 6-cylinder coupe,
3,070 pounds for the 8-cylinder coupe,
3,165 pounds for the 6-cylinder convertible,
and 3,325 for the 8-cylinder convertible.

Add 21 pounds for power windows,
20 pounds for the folding rear seat,
86 pounds for air conditioning,
9 pounds for power brakes,
23 pounds for front disc brakes,
10 pounds for the 250-cid 6-cylinder engine,
39 pounds for the 327-cid V-8 engine,
72 pounds for the 350-cid V-8 engine
258 pounds for the 396-cid V-8 engine,
7 pounds for the four speed manual transmission,
14 pounds for the Powerglide,
56 pounds for the Turbo Hydra-Matic,
38 pounds for dual exhaust,
29 pounds for power steering,
15 pounds for heavy duty battery,
8 pounds for an AM radio,
9 pounds for an AM-FM radio,
and 17 pounds for the Rally Sport. (?)

Thumbs up

hell yes! I wish i could have been there! SC, blue tooth, paddle shifters (although ill be getting a stick), 2 tone seats. The awesomeness that is the 5th gen Camaro just keeps growing. Ya we had to wait, but i think it was worth it. i think im gonna have to wait for the sc version to get all my jollies in fine with me bc ill need to build up some cash (graduating college this year... Scott, you want an apprentice? yes, yes you do )
