Dealer sold the Demo car!

On the way to a car show I went into the local Chevy dealer today as they had a 2010 Camaro V6 for sale in the classifieds! Turns out they sold it! The salesman even told me they were told by GM to keep 'em for 30 days. I was pretty pissed. I would think they would rather keep it on the lot and let people test drive em and maybe sell some more rather than go for the quick sale.

The good news is at the car show there was two 2010 Camaros a yellow V6 with leather and a black V6 with cloth seats.

This was my first time seeing the production car in person and I was amazed how good they looked. I have been following this car for what seems like years now and it is a totally different experience to see it up close rather than on paper or on a screen. I actually don't really like the exterior design much when I see it on paper or screen, but I really dig the car in person.

The thing that impressed me most was the interior and how nice looking and high quality it looked. I was also surprised how much smaller the car looks in person.
Now that I seen it in person I can check that off my list. Next there is sitting in it. Hearing it running and then driving it. Finally owning one of my own.

The chevy dealer near me has a black 1LT on the showroom floor. It has a $10,000 markup so that it won't sell. They want to keep it as a demo car, like GM wanted. I think the interior is pretty crappy honestly, but MUCH better than the 4th gens.

My dealer was the same, but with a $3k markup. I know they'll sell you a car at sticker, or should I say just put you in the system because it will be a long time before they get an allocation for you. But they don't want to sell the demo unless someone just has to have it. It was a smart move IMO, because the demo will bring in a lot of foot traffic.

My dealer sold the demo car 2 days after they got it, but made the guy wait until May 6th to pick it up.

Of the four local Chevy dealerships here in ABQ.

One sold their Black LT before it got off the transport to one of the salesman's wife. Amount unknown.

One sold thier Silver LT/RS as it was coming off the transport to a "friend of one of the techs that works there" for $33k. 6k over sticker.

One sold their Victory Red LT car less than an hour after it being put on the lot. Amount unknown.

One "auctioned" their Yellow LT/RS for about 6k over sticker.

Rediculousness to the enth!

Since then, one dealership has received a IOM 1SS car and sold it immediately for close to 40k and it was not a pre-ordered car.

Dealership with the Red car also has a RJT SS car that is sold but nobody is saying or knows what it sold for. This was the first SS car in New Mexico so I can only imagine what some idiot paid for it.

But yeah, every dealer here already sold their "demo" cars....with a quickness!,

Tillery Chevrolet in Moriarty, NM (about 40 minutes fro Alb) is selling the camaros at MSRP. No Markups. Even the ordered models. They have a yellow lt3 on the lot and another one on the way. Pretty nice people. I have bought a few trucks from them.

my dealer sold thiers for a 3k markup to another dealer in south carolina. i thought they hadto keep them for a certain period? BS. chevy gives these dealers these cars to display and they turn it around and sell it. they might as well have made my car first. they would have made more money on it.

With the way that Chevy dealers are hurting right now, they will take the quick sale any day of the week to help keep the lights on. Plus, with the dealer closings happening, why wait?

Speaking as a GM worker I can say.... CONTRACT...WHAT CONTRACT? I mean seriously the contracts GM has right now are being torn apart as we speak...pay cuts/benefits gone/etc...and all this with the "threat" of bankruptcy...whatever... Personally I am pretty sure this was all organized about a year or so ago...GM worked us all summer 60+ hours a week while the days supply kept piling up...180 to 280 days of vehicles and all of the sudden GM is "out of cash" LOL...well why did they spend all that money on OVERTIME to build cars to sit somewhere?

Now GM is closing Dealers and many are going to get screwed so WHY should they do anything GM says when GM talks out of both side of their mouths...why should they honor GM when GM is basically kicking a lot of them to the curb?

I think this is all a load of crap...

If GM is going out of business then they should be allowed to do so...CLOSE THE DOORS PERIOD....no special government bankruptcy plan... OR the government should be giving me and everyone else tied to GM a special bankruptcy plan as well. Whatever paycut I am having shoved down my throat I should be able to in turn shove down my mortgage comanies throat, and insurance companies throat and any other debts/bills I have.

So as far as GM goes with these dealers and the 30 day rule...I say SCREW GM...
