Challenger "package car" How about a similar camaro pakage?
Challenger "package car" How about a similar camaro pakage?
"Chrysler also announced a new “package” car program starting with the 2009 Dodge Challenger. The program provides parts specifically for racing and would be available directly from the dealership.
The “package” car program represents a significant piece of Mopar history, beginning with the 1968 HEMI Dart and HEMI Barracuda “package” cars that were purpose-built vehicles designed for drag racers running factory-built cars and eventually lead to the development of the NHRA Pro Stock division.
The current package car will be a HEMI-powered Dodge Challenger Drag Racing Package, powered by a competition version of the third-generation HEMI engine. However, the original 1968 “package” cars continue to be so popular that there is a Mopar HEMI Challenge series for them, which is operated in conjunction with NHRA"

So im going to guess the odds of the camaro coming with a similar package are pretty slim but what do you think?

This is the best information I can find on the challenger Super Stock "package"

2008 factory built Super Stock Challengers will be for sale at Chrysler dealerships, according to a statement made during the unveiling of the Class 8 Baja trucks at the Mopar booth at SEMA 2007. They said these Super Stock Challengers will be very limited in number, and are not street legal, and you should get on the list now if you want one. They sandwiched this info between talking a lot about new block and head castings for old and newer HEMIs, and unveiling the Baja trucks. They also talked about some kind of HEMI block that was made of "Compacted Carbon", which would be in the Mopar parts range.
Nice idea and very nostalgic but I don't see the point. The major drag racing classes don't use factory cars anymore. It's not like Sox & Martin are getting a factory acid dipped lightweight A/FX car from Chrysler to campaign in NHRA.
Maybe it's just a way to show off the race Hemi engine? And while I'm sure there are those who will buy a brand new $30,000+ "package" Challenger to race on the track... but how many could that be and would it be worth the expense for Chrysler?
Does anyone know how well the Competition Vipers sold?
