Challenger Marketing, How will Camaro React
When the Challenger was released earlier this week at the Chicago Auto Show the Teutul's from "American Chopper" were on hand to introduce and endorse the car. Dodge used mainstream celebrities for there marketing of the car and GM has used Jeff Gordon and Kid Rock this year at the Detroit Auto Show, so do you think the Camaro team will use this marketing strategy or will they use some thing else. Only one year away

Oh and I thought the G8 new year promotion was genius!

On the other hand I believe having celebrities that "represent" certain vehicles based on their lifestyles has a more effective reach.
Such as the Chevy superbowl ad from last year. http://youtube.com/watch?v=BoApXpIymdE
And hopefully another Transformers commercial

Exactly. Everything we've been seeing and reading from Scott points to the fact the Camaro will sell itself.
As Bob Lutz has said time and time again, it's all about "product, product, product".
No need for celebrities and catch lines on the Camaro - just the car itself.
To me, it shows that Chrysler is either unsure of the Challenger as a product or unsure of themselves as a company when you have to hire some old worn out celeb to tout the car. The Teutuls were fun about 6 years ago, but their schtick is the same as it always was. How many motorcycles can you build showing Dad and his two Sons argueing?
You might as well hire Tony Orlando.

But then again, considering how closely the challenger is being tracked ona message board specifically dedicated to the 5th gen camaro, makes you wonder.
Leave the eashed up stars at home. Let the car do the talking.
Washed up celebrities are like rubbing meat on your kid so the dog will play with him.
It is just a old marketing trick to get the press to be at the into on time for free autographs.
THe Challanger in effect is a Camaro opponet but in the large scpe of things it is not the primary target.
The RWD coupe market is good for 300,000 coupes a year and half of thoes are Mustangs with near 3/4 of these V6.
Marketing should be directed targeted at the Mustang just as the Malibu is directed at the Camry.
IF you have a better car compare it. GM today is building better cars than the others and are not affraid to prove it.
Besides if you want to sell a lot of cars with a celebrity just make some Dale Jr eddition that is affordable and you will sell a tone of them. He is a big Camaro fan and has the ability to sell a lot of cars to a lot of crazy NASCAR fans. Just don't get crazy with the price or limit hwo many built too much. Heck he has already made Hot Rod cover with one of his many Camaro's Who better to represent the Camaro than a Camaro owner.
Besides like him or hate him he is already under contract.

I'm a huge Jimmie Johnson fan and I don't drive an Impala or always shop at Lowe's. If I don't like their product, I don't buy it....don't care who is trying to sell it.
Oh, and it's never been an issue for me. The Camaro would win...period.

The fact is when one has a Celb who already works for you and has a gowing collection of Camaro's who better than he to push it.
If you have not been to a race lately, I can say it was amazing how the grandstands were red in color and not all were drinking Bud. Tis year they will be green but they will all not be AMP'd up.
If Chevy could push some chessey Monte Carlo editions Jr as a spokesman for the Camaro should do well.
