Challeger being discounted from sticker

I live in Akron Ohio and in last Sunday's paper a dealer in my area had an ad
on a 2009 Challenger SE as follows:

3.5lt HO V6 24v MPI engine
Traction Control/ESP
4-Whl ABS/Fog Lamps
18" Alum wheels/Sirius
In-Dash 6-CD Changer
276-watt Amp/Pwr Sunroof
Power Seat/Speed Control
Side Airbags & more

MSRP 26,735.00
Disc - 5,347.00

Sale Price 21,388.00

I know this isn't a V8 Challeger but still, that is a pretty hefty discount. This comes to exactly 20% off sticker. Any one think we wll see discounts like this down the road on the Camaro after it has been out a while?

I doubt we'll see discounts on the Camaro for a long time.

I don't remember the Challenger having over 7000 orders before production started.

Edited to add:
I just did a little research. It seems the Challenger had PLENTY of orders. Maybe we will see discounted Camaros...

Is that correct at 10,000? I recall there was slightly less than 7,000 but they were touted as limited/first year special things and GM is not hyping the Camaro like that. Serves them right to start discounting after they had idiots buy some of the first ones for over $70,000.

Those were top level SRT8s last spring. They were limited edition as only 6,400 were made. The price you quote was common when production first started. The first SRT8s I personally saw at Salinas Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep near financially well off Monterey California went for about $60 grand.

As for the current discounts, the things Chrysler is trying to do:

1. up the sales of the V6 Challenger.
2. counter the effects of tough to get car loans.

Yeah that's what I was thinking of, was that a set number or just what got ordered? I saw a few SRT8's at shows here when they were new with the sticker in the window for over $70,000 and people were walking by looking at them and literally saying "idiot" out loud over and over again, LOL.

I hope the Challenger V8's price loosens up to. When I buy my Camaro, my next car most likely be a Challenger. Dont get me wrong, Chevy #1 for me.

Have they started making the interior of the Challenger in more than one color yet?
