The only numbers that matter:
What kind of performance can we expect from the bad-boy pony? The Camaro kids weren’t ready to talk specifics yet but were willing to say they expect their car to be quicker than the Challenger SRT8 (0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, 13.3 at 108 mph in the quarter-mile), and further, that it’ll deliver the same kind of exemplary dynamics that distinguish the G8, except more so.

One thing that most of these articles have in common is that imply or state that folks in GM are saying it will outpower all of the following: All chargers, challengers, mustang, 350z.
Makes me think they may surprise us with a 425-430 hp number for the SS just to have a higher number than all those others along with the ability to demonstrate that superiority on the track.

Very nice, kinda wished they did that with the S-197, but I guess there wouldn't have been any room with the Shaker 1000 and a battery in the trunk at the same time.
That brings to mind though, how many cars in the last 3 or 4 years have been designed with the batter at the nose of the car? The S-197 has the battery mount along the firewall. Other than improving weight distribution was there a safety issue with collisions?
