Camaro vs. Tuner Camaro

it's been kind of slow in here and i don't reply to often so i thought i'd be a good boy and try to start up another conversation. I heard awhile ago that Roush may be behind the Camaro, whether it's true or not i don't know, but it definately made me interested in buying a tuner type Camaro. i love what saleen has done to the mustangs and it'd be awesome if someone were to do that to the Camaro. just curious to what you guys would hold out for and for why?

Re: Camaro vs. Tuner Camaro

looking at the way 'tuned ' mustangs are, a definate no. Stage 1 rousch, which i believe all it is is a body kit, wheels and rousch logo go for 36k at the local ford dealer here. SVT Stangs IMO are much better, get more to the point. No reason Chevy can't do the same thing with 'ss' or 'z28' whatever they decide, or maybe "zl1'

I can "tune" it myself, thank you very much.

Re: Camaro vs. Tuner Camaro

I would rather do exactly what I want to the car, than buy a car already tuned for me, with a ridiculous markup on the price.

I'm definitely not buying a roush camaro if that's the case, i don't like the way the roush mustangs look. That's not just because I don't like mustangs, that's an objective disapproval.

Re: Camaro vs. Tuner Camaro

If a tuner Camaro comes out, the only way I would consider it would be if it had a large visual distinction between it and GM's basic models.

I dont think many people on this site are going to be supportive of tuner models. Being an enthuisest site, most people here are into tuning their vehicles themselves. The average Joe on the other hand who just buys a car and drives it would probably be more willing to buy a pre modded car.

I really liked the GMMG cars. Short of one of those, I don't think I'd get a tuner car.

While I liked the 'tuner' mustang I drove, there is no way that it was worth the rediculous price they wanted to add to it. I believe it was the stage 1 Saleen, not 100% sure, it had an extra 25hp and all their suspention goodies.

"When Chevrolet builds the next generation Camaro, Baldwin-Motion will be ready with a Phase IV version available from select Chevrolet dealers"

Baldwin motion has already said that when the new Camaro comes out they will be ready to customize it.

Re: Camaro vs. Tuner Camaro

I would have to see both the specific mod list and the price in order to know for sure. I'm not ruling it out at this point, but I'm expecting to do exactly that once I have the details.

Re: Camaro vs. Tuner Camaro

While I do like the Saleen mustangs, IMHO the mustang GT needs a lot more help in the looks and speed department. So the Saleens are desirable.

Wheras the Camaro, if it comes to market with at least the 400 horsepower the concept has, and the smokin' good looks the concept has, doesn't really need anything from a Tuner. I'd probably order one up with whatever the 400 to 450 to 500 horsepower engine option is, put a cat back on and tint the windows. Then drive it and wait to see what the aftermarket comes up with in the way of heads and cam packages
