That was perhaps even more of a waste of time than listening to sports columnists project who will win the Superbowl in week 3 of the regular season.

This crap is starting to bother me. The G8 only gets to 60 so fast because of the 6 speed transmission........and to say "despite the rediculasly tall gears" is a stupid statement. It does do the 1/4 in what a car that hp should. The laws of physics tells us that a car almost the same weight with 420hp is going to be faster by ....oh I dont know .5 seconds or so. And guess what the charger srt8 runs in the 1/4 at the track? Low 13's just what it should. The G8 is slightly quicker then the charger RT (as it should be with the slight hp and weight advantage) in the 1/4. The diffrence is a little more to 60 because of the transmission in the G8. Most times its going to be a drivers race. To even throw the srt8 in there shows a lack of brain cells.

I don't think any of that matters (tranny)...They're testing cars. Not each individual parts. So the Charger has a 5-speed: Aw well - I wouldn't call the comparison crap just because IF the Charger had a 6-speed it would be faster...

Bench racing at it's best.
I'm sure magazines will be testing production Camaros within a year so invite the Mustang and Challenger and get some real numbers.

Gear multiplication and effective ratio. 1st gear is steeper and thus will get the G8 moving faster from a stop. The end of the 1/4 is all hp........and makes sense that it falls just a few tenths quicker then an RT.

That article is either too old or was written by idiots, because it states the Camaro will be built in Australia......

We all know it's being built in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

I cannot stand articles that make statements as if they are undisputed facts which any half informed person on the subject knows it is 100% wrong.

As others have said bench racing at its best. That was a waste of paper...Lol..Still if your bored I guess its fun to play w/ the numbers. It doesn`t mean squat in the real world though.

"The Camaro shares its basic component set and family of engines with the Pontiac G8. It will, in fact, be built on the same production line in Australia as the Pontiac and its Holden-branded brethren."
Are we sure, has GM gave a definite, yeah to Oshawa?
"And we expect the Camaro will be somewhat lighter than the G8 sedan's 4,100 pounds. Figure Chevy will claim a curb weight somewhere around 3,800 pounds."
Ouch...lets hope that's a couple lbs high, estimate.

how much smaller really is the camaro supposed to be than the G8?

you already seen that the challenger lost 4" from the charger and only like 80lbs. Im sure it'll be greater than that, but realistically, how much and why? I know there is only 50lbs difference from a 4dr civic and 2dr coupe, so the extra doors and hardware isn't THAT much either.
