Thumbs up Camaro V-6 First Drive - C&D. Sounds pretty good!

Would I take a V-6 version over a Challenger? Definitely. A Mustang-I don't know... you could probably a get a GT for the price of a V-6 Camaro.

Attention, IROC-Z enthusiasts: the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will not be available with your beloved T-top. If this is hugely disappointing, well, it may finally be time to put on a shirt with a collar, sell your Skynyrd CDs, and scissor the mullet.

In reviving the Camaro, Chevy is doing all it can to make the born-again car remind everyone of the sharp, cleanly styled 1967 original, rather than the more awkward later versions that seemed like accessories to tank-top wear and excesses in facial hair. This writer, the semi-proud owner of a 1995 Z28, knows intimately all the social assumptions that go with late-model Camaro ownership.

did you see the Genesis coupe they had reviewed? wow. 310 hp v6, 35xx lbs. Good job Hyundai. Is both ford AND camaro v6's going to be out done by a Hyundai? lol

These are the kind of comments I expect to see a lot of:

"The ride quality of the Camaro doesn’t even rate a comparison with the lesser Mustang, and it makes the Challenger’s handling feel plodding."

I wonder if enough of these comments will prompt Ford to put an IRS in the Mustang sooner than later.

I'm impressed with Hyundai coming out with 310 HP @ 3500 pounds, but you're right, I wouldn't be caught dead in one. Might be a nice option for someone looking at a WRX or EVO though who doesn't want all the fugliness that comes with either of those two.

The V6 Camaro sounds like a very nice all around car. I wonder how difficult it would be to remove 200 pounds of excess weight.

Wow, I'm impressed...VERY positive comments from a "mainstream" mag....except for a few mullet references . Pretty nice pics too!

Yeah, I read the article. Seemed like mostly a fluff piece, but it did sound interesting. But the Genesis has 2 things against it:

1) VERY uninspiring styling (in my opinion)

2) It IS a Hyundai. Don't get me wrong....hell, I did the research, decided on & helped my sister-in-law shop for & buy a Hyundai. For her needs a Hyundai Elantra was the PERFECT choice. But for me, unless it has a black horse on a yellow shield, I have NO INTEREST at all in foreign cars. I'll admit it, I'm narrow minded in my car choices....in my 25 years of driving I've had 2 Oldsmobiles, 1 Pontiac, & 9 Chevy's (nothing but GM if you didn't notice!).

the article was only "ok" to me.

Things will get better with the V8's being tested though by the rags.. i just havent been much of a believer in what the "rag" writers say usually.. Wish more of America was that way.. if they were they'd all be driving AMERICAN Manufacturers instead of damn toyotas and hondas.

Since the V6 Genesis is supposed to start @ $33k I really don't think so. For the price point difference I would think you could probably get the Camaro down to pretty close to that weight

from the website:

"Expect the four-banger to start around $24–$25K and a six-cylinder model to command $28K or so..."

0 to 60 in 6.1 secs. and 1/4 mile in 14.5 @ 97 mph. That right on top of some 4th gen LT1s times. Impressive for the V6 and I hope comes in under 25K if the V8 is going to start at $29,995.

They're talking about the Genesis COUPE (not the official name), competition for the camaro and mustang. You've linked to the Hyundai Genesis pseudo-luxury full sized sedan...which weighs far more than 3500lbs.

Oh hell! Didn't know there was such an animal.

All I knew about was the luxury car that my cubemate here at work keeps talking about.
