Re: Camaro Safety
I was just going to say, that car probably has about as much in common with a production Camaro as a NASCAR version of an Impala.
Re: Camaro Safety
If my memory serves me correctly, there have been some members on here who have had some horrific accidents in their 4th Gens and walked away. I agree with JasonD that when they came out they had excellent safety ratings.
What does one expect, the 15 year old car to be equal to a new car in the same areas? I think that is asking a bit much as I am sure that the saftey regulations have become more stringent since then.

Re: Camaro Safety
I was in a 97 Z that went into a concrete highway divider at over 100 MPH. The car was bent end-to-end, but all three of us walked away. Smacked my knee on the glovebox door and cut my hand on broken glass while climbing out the window opening; there were no other injuries. Everything from the front frame horns to the driver and passenger seatbacks were heavily deformed. This was a frontal impact, followed by a spin. From that experience, I'd have to say the 4th gens fare pretty well.
Re: Camaro Safety
My point was simply that the car did a fine job protecting us under those conditions; I wasn't posting to boast how cool it was to wreck like that. In fact, the experience has made me hate getting into a car that I'm not personally driving, even if it's on a track. This was a number of years ago, by the way, and my jackassery on public roads was over before the incident even occurred.Cliff notes: I wasn't driving.

Re: Camaro Safety
Because the guy driving the car was doing over 100 on the highway.
