Probably under a commodore. Something similar has already been done, so Id assume it'd be pretty interchangeable.

Yeah, probably. The mules that might be on public roads right now, are probably completely unrecognizable as Camaros.

The article says "prototype", not "mule".

Those in the auto business please correct me if I'm wrong, but a prototype would be the pre-production vehicle, as opposed to a "mule" with the drivetrain and chassis under the body of another vehicle.

After seeing the leaked CAD drawings of the frame, suspension and drivetrain that leaked almost a year ago, I've been convinced that they've had at least one mule on the roads for a while now, and the car is a lot further along than what we think. A "real" prototype on the road less than a year after the unveiling of the concept would only reinforce that (at least in my mind).

I'm fully expecting (hoping) to see some spy pics before too long of something recognizable as a 5th Gen Camaro.

And call it wishful thinking (which it may very well be!), but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the stated production time of late 2008 is beat. Maybe the "early 2008" production (alluded to twice in the article) wasn't a "typo" after all, but instead was an unintentional leak by GM?

And just to add to my conspiracy theory even more: Maybe I'm making too much of it, but I find it a bit interesting that those that we all agree are "in the know" have steered clear of this thread.

Obviously someone is misinterpretting the word "mules" to mean something it is not. In this meaning, a "mule" is when the car companies take a car and try to disguise it as something else, be it by putting the drivetrain and such under a different body (IE: Driving a 5th gen car around with a completely different car's body panels, hence you see it on the road and don't realize at heart it's the 5th gen Camaro) or when they put disguises on the car's body panels, such as the checkered/zebra black and white stripes/patterns and/or rubber tarps over the body panels so you can't as easilly see the lines and details of the car, just the general outline.
