Question Camaro to be exported? If so which foreign markets?

Yeah the car hasn't been built yet... but what other markets would GM sell this car in? Canada, surely? The UK like the Mustang - heck they sell the vette there?

I keep seeing this rather scary number of 150,000 units bandied around. What if / is this number is worldwide? Or is this number US sales alone?

I would have to say that Canada is the only other place, except for maybe Australia. Europe is too snobby to acept a car like this and plus, this type of design has no meaning to them at all.

By the way, how many Mustangs were sold abroad?

I thought half the point of the blunt front ends was to pass some stupid pedestrian saftey law in europe.

From the debate about it on the www.ls1.com.au forums...its polarised alot of people. One thing they all agree if it does come out to Australia to not be a Monaro.

Sadly a new Camaro will never be found at a Chevy dealership here in Norway, only through private import. Some GM numb skulls have actually pulled the plugg on _everything_ with regards to US built Chevrolets here... The Chevy trucks have sold in loads over here, but some smart@ss decided that here (and in at least some other european countries) GM was going to try to minimize their losses on the totally useless korean built Daewoo branch by re-labeling it to Chevrolet and in the same breath kill all other Chevrolet sales..

Well, I guess to me it is just yet another reason to head on back to the US

Back during the IROC years the number one import car in Japan was none other than the

Camaro.

Germany, Australia, Sweden, and Canada. It'd be a big hit, cause most of those countries are willing to pay for V8 gas expenses, based on the number of V8 powered cars produced and driven there (germany, Aust. and Can.) BTW, Ford is still undecided on importing the the '05 Mustang; Mustangs are known as T5's in Europe, and during the 60's-70's, Fords were actually made in Holland.

Camaro will not be certified for Euro pedestrian safety standards.

Re: Camaro to be exported? If so which foreign markets?

It really is disappointing that GM don't build cars for RHD markets. One of the main reasons (IMO) why we don't get more US vehicles is due to the fact that our cars need to be converted over to RHD. That adds cost and complexity.

Holden needs vehicles like Tahoe/Suburban to take the battle to Toyota who dominate the 4WD market here. GM would simplify the decision making process for a lot of regions considering importing vehicles from NA if they were also offered in RHD.

DC make their cars compatible for both markets, why not GM? I hope GM are reading this post!

You guys are fooling yourself. Except for a handful of Camaro and Firebirds that were exported by buyers, you dont' really think a Camaro will sell at European dealerships do you? The Camaro is a strictly AMERICAN institution. Get over it. The Camaro is not some World Car.

IMO, both are dead on.

There will no doubt be a few imported by collectors where it's possible, but as Z pointed out, it won't pass Euro-land's pedestrian standards, and because it's an American car, it doesn't need to.

I'd expect Camaro to be sold in this hemisphere & possibly the Middle East & the Camaro based Monaro replacement to be sold elsewhere.
