I can see this blowing up into a long ugly thread of Z vs SS posting. I'll say I just want another Camaro in any configuration. My past experience with Camaro Z's and SS behind me I'd take a SS any day.

The troll filter, on the other hand, seems to have some leaks...

That one made me laugh a little bit.....

On the topic though, I'd love anything that's new and has the word "Camaro" associated with it. But in my opinion, Z28 should be the top dawg.

I could be wrong here, but what was the original top dog? I thought it was the SS. Please, nobody bash me for being wrong, because if I am I will totally admit to it. So what was the top dog in 1969? Whatever it was back then should be what it is now.

Z28 was a purebread race machine.... but it was originally available with only a 302 i believe.. due to restrictions in the racing series it was part of...

the SS was a package you added to your camaro.. not a seperate model like the Z28... with this package came bigger engines that were available than in the Z28.. and the SS was quicker in a straight line.. but the racing upgrades on the z28, besides the powerplant, made it quicker around a track

as for the 5th gen.. i'm hoping the Z28 is akin to the Vette's Z06.. it'll have the most horsepower, best brakes and suspension, and be the fastest Camaro in a straight line and around the track.. it wouldnt be available till like 2010-2012 this beast will start close to 40 grand.. and have well over 500hp

the SS would be the top model at the beginning, starting price around 28grand.. 450hp or so... this would be the one i get, unless i somehow become financially able to afford the top model

the badge has no bearing on which one i will get.. i just want a V8 that i can afford

Ironic that the 4th-gen SS / Z28 switched roles? The SS came with the upgraded suspension, wheels, etc. Although it's not like the Z28 got anything "extra" or "special" that the SS didn't .

as for the 5th gen.. i'm hoping the Z28 is akin to the Vette's Z06.
I'd like that too, but I've always been a Z28 guy . But hey, how's that quote go again? "Any car can be an SS. Only a Camaro can be a Z28."

..... and may the debate continue!

Actually, back in 69 both the Z28 and the SS were just packages or options. The Z28 didn't become its own model till much later.

thing is with the SS, you get it as an option package, and you could add other option packages on like RS and have a SS/RS ( or RS/SS whatever it is)

you couldnt do that with a Z28, or am i wrong..

as far as i know you couldnt get a Z28/SS or a Z28/RS, or some other comibination

i know i've found sites explaining this better.. but my memory may be slipping and i can't look up those sites here at work because they are blocked

I could care less...I'll take whichever one has more power. Cool looking ralley stripes would be a plus too.

SS - Z28...they both rock in my book.
