Just found this on a mustang site
" New Camaro is a go!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While GM has not yet formally announced it, they are negotiating a deal with the Canadian Auto Workers Union for a new flexible plant in Canada to build the car.
Sources from GM all over are saying that the car is well on track along with variants for Pontiac and Buick to be built on the same Zeta Platform architecture. The rear drive chassis is the next generation design from Australia that replaces what the current GTO and Holden family of cars rides on. Development of the new chassis, the Camaro and other American versions of the car is said to be taking place in Australia with the Holden group. Althought the cars will be built in North America.
The Detroit Free Press reports, GM will invest $710 million to build the Camaro and other members of a new family of high-performance rear-wheel-drive cars."The plant will become a flexible manufacturing facility to build a number of models from the new rear-wheel-drive platform, including the Camaro," if the deal goes through, said a CAW person who requested anonymity because the negotiations are ongoing.
The flexible manufacturing system would allow the plant to build a wide variety of models, probably including two- and four-door models for Pontiac, Chevrolet and Buick.

Sales were up a little in 2003 vs 2002... but '03 sales were about even with '01 and WAY behind '00 IIRC.

Re: Camaro announcement to be made on Thursday by Wagoner?
Well, it seems that the proverbial cat is probably out of the bag since most of the major media corporations here in Canada have aired something about GM being expected to announce production of the Camaro on Thursday. This evening, Global (British Columbia) aired a segment about the car returning but also had some opinions from one or two people who worked at Ste Therese. They called it Boisbriand (4 km away from Ste Therese) and had one guy stating that he doesn't think it will do well because of high gas prices. A lot of us beg to differ especially since the concept (And most likely the production version) has AFM.
As to the lack of statement for or against the possibility of an announcement, I can understand where Scott and GM are coming from. If they say "Yes, we're announcing a vehicle", it's basically saying "Yeah, but the surprise is ruined for you". If they say "No, everyone is wrong", there'll be a big "Why the heck not?" monkey **** fight (Excuse the terminology). Either way, I can't wait until Thursday and I'm loving the media attention to what will (Hopefully) be my next car.
On a completely unrelated note (And in my dreams...) Any chance the Concept might be in Vegas around October 21st? I missed it in Vancouver, BC in March but if there's anything going on then, I would love to finally see it with my own two eyes.

That's all I needed to see. If that's all Scott is coming to say, then I'm sold!
You guys should get the hint and quit asking questions... obviously no one is able/willing to make any comment about it. If they said there was a webcast then they'd be confirming the announcement, which they're unable to do.
