Chris that car kick major a$$!
I love the 1st gen idea better myself, but everybodys taste is different.
Why not a Trans Am concept too?
GM would have to have a Pontiac model too...
I dont see why your couldnt be applied to a more modern, conservative look. A smoother line here, taller here, more interior space there, BAM you got a 5th gen.
I mean com'on. My car has a big hump in the passenger floorboard
GM if your listening...I am fine with a 'proverbial hump' in my 'floorboard' just give me an agressive, semi-retro Camaro and you got my sale. I would put my car up for sale tomorrow if a retro Z28 hit the showroom.
I know with the GTO they went really conservative with it (blah)
Goes to show they are looking for a new-age look, with just a hint of retro.
To me the only thing "GTO" about the new GTO is the name and partly the front end. Other than that its just another grand am with a V8 to me.
When I think of GTO, I think "big block" and "heavy" and "massive".
When I see the new GTO NONE of these words cross my mind.
I wish they would have went with a wider looking stance, and closer to the old GTO (a retro '67 grill would kick butt), with a rear end closer to the old GTO too. (you know, wider and more muscular looking)
It needs a rear end that takes 18"x10" wheels to fill the rear wheelwell.
Although, I guess GM is just testing the waters with the GTO to see if there is any interest in the retro market and will hopefully take the retro look a step further, when a new generation is made.
Again, Chris, Nice job andkeep it up. You have contributed to the race for a new Z.

But they didnt go retro enough, just a tad more would have done it for me, but thats just me.

That is a good lookin' car. The front end is pretty cool, alot different from any other design thus far. I think the fog lights should be split out wider though. Also think there is too much of a roll off with the rear end of the car, but I guess there's really no way around this with the overall design of the car. Great Work

The 2005 GTO weighs 3725 lbs. About 600 pounds more than a 1964 GTO
The 2005 GTO is 189.8 inches long and 72.5 inches wide. That's about a foot shorter, but only about an inch and a half narrower than a 1964 GTO.
Guess looks are deceiving

EDIT: to add something, I have since rode in one..a buddy of mine got a Torch(?) Red '04 and its awesome...perfect for a guy with a 4th Gen stripper who needs a daily driver with attitude....
But it still doesnt instill those words I mentioned..but that's because I know the old GTO from looking at it in retrospect.
It makes me think "Sleek", "Elegant", "Refined", "Secret", & "Surprise motha f*cka"
Damn sweet car.

But that's just me. I have since changed my opinion on the new GTO..it's exactly what the original GTO was supposed to be...& you older guys know exactly what I'm talking about...

If I was in the market for luxery, I'd be leaning towards a GTO or some sort of V6 'Vert with some punch to it...dont know what that would be but my sis just got a 40th Anny Stang 'Vert & I've been driving it for the last couple days...me want one. Not a stang, but a Vert. Even a Stang would be cool if the price was cheaper than my other options, but it's not. Im deciding on either a GM truck, or a 2 door 'Vert sports car with a V6 or a good mpg V8. Still going back and forth because when I talk to my buddy with a 5.3 RCSWB, I get all giddy thinking of a cammed, stalled 5.3L, but on the other hand, I should be more practical & get a V6 Vert. ???Dunno, hard choice to make..
