In transit is generic. Anything above 3800 (produced) is considered in transit. Ask your dealer to run the complete Vehicle History Report and tell you exactly what event code you are at. Most I've seen are sitting at 4B00 (that's B as in boy, not 4800). That's "bayed" waiting for transport. Only some very few have moved to 4200 and 4300.

If yours is truly in transit, and you're farther than 250 miles from the plant, then your dealer needs to call the Dealer Business Center and get the railcar number, the rail company(s), and the final rail yard location.
With that info, you can track your car using the info I posted in the thread about rail distribution centers.

so i just checked the list of all the camaro vin that have been built and found out my dealer has a 2lt yellow built and they told me i was number 1 priority on their list. are they BS'ing me or could this be the v6 model that all dealerships are getting as a display model?

That is still BS though...your order should be built first. I think this issue may start happening to a lot of people since dealers are more concerned with getting their "demo" model first before anyones order.

I'm in Ca. and think I am getting hosed on dealer hitting me for more than MSRP. about 2k over for a white 2SS RS with sun roof. ----no stripes.........
would anyone share the price they are purchasing theirs for.... I know, what do I expect for Ca.

But if yours is truly at 4200 or 4300, it can be tracked.
Have your dealer call the Dealer Business Center and get the railcar number (if you're farther than 250 miles from the plant), the rail company(s), and the rail distribution center.
If you're within 250 miles the dealer can get the name of the hauler.
From there, you can go to the websites of the rail company and/or hauler and track your car.
