alternate lineup
alternate lineup
Alot of speculation as to what the model lineup will be. Got me thinking on another scenario.
5.3L Z28
6.0 SS
??L SS (6.2?)
They did it in the past and do it on the Cobalt.
I am in the RS V8 camp but only because I want a cheap V8 Camaro. What they call it doesn't matter to me. Going by 4th gen a Camaro Z28 was about the same price as the Mustang GT. Thats all I am looking for in a 5th gen V8.
Two SS cars. What would you think?

Seriously though. Drop the designations otherwise this is going to turn into yet another SS vs. Z28 debate.
5.3L = Base V8
6.0L = Performance V8
6.2L Supercharged = Uber Performance V8
or in otherwords, options (a), (b) and (Z).
Re: alternate lineup
The Z/28 aint' gonna have no blower... no way--
I just don't see them segregating the Z/28 moniker so completely from the majority buying public-- why have a $40,000+ exotic power solution just to call it what used to be the "everyman's hotrod"-- Z/28
I think ZL-1 or something would be MUCH more appropriate for your uber-Camaro-- Z/28 will always be the meat of the V-8 lineup-- not the icing

ZL-1 should only be used on a big block powered car. The chances of GM putting a big block in a new Camaro are unlikely.

Intention is irrelevant. Perception is what matters.
Re: alternate lineup
So the question is, which is more relevant to the lineup in 2006, what Z28 meant in 1969 or what it meant in 2002?
FWIW I am in the "don't care which designations they use for each level" camp.

what? do you even know what Z06, Z28, Z24, Z71 are???
They are option codes that you order. So basically if you order a car instead of buying one off the lot... you buy a V6 Camaro... and if you check the Z28 option.. then you get the V8 and all the other goodies... just like you used to do with the Cavalier and the Z24 option... Now the Vette with the Z06 option. Or silverados with Z71 option. I am sure there are more but i can't think of them. They will never do a Camaro Z06... or a Cobalt Z28.
Because these are different options that go into different cars.
