2012 Camaro Z28 spotted and confirmed w/ 6.2L SC V8
It's funny. This site used to be an addiction for me. I would check it multiple times a day and read all of the threads. It has changed enough that I don't find myself getting on very much. I think my excitement for the Camaro has waned a little as well. As much as people don't want to hear it the weight is a big problem for me. I still like the new car but I am just not as passionate about it. I am excited about the Z28 and hope to buy one. I still check the site regularly but it doesn't seem to hold the intelligent conversation and insider information it once had.

I still come here just about every day, could be out of habit, and maybe I'll read one or two threads. I too used to read EVERY thread, and check in multiple times per day.
But alot of the excitement is gone for me too. I've lost alot of the passion that I used have for this car. We've lost alot of the more interesting and knowledgeable members as well. Some others hardly ever post here anymore. Great discussions used to be the norm here, a given, in fact, you might have several interesting debates going on simultaneously in multiple threads.
Interesting conversations are few and far between now, hate to say.
I still love this place though, and will probably continue to stop in until I get banned or something, but alot of the thrill is gone. The "MAGIC" which this place had, was the combination of people which brought their humor, opinion, knowledge and personality and the excitement of what we all hoped the 5th gen Camaro would/could be. The 5th gen is here now; love it, hate it or indifferent and many of the more interesting and knowledgeable folks who have moved on will probably never return again. Not that I don't still have friends here, but our group has been heavily, heavily thinned.
It'd be nice to see that old magic come back here. It's funny, eventhough I don't own any portion of this site, I almost consider it my own, and hate to see it lose the spirit it once had.

Northwest, I feel you in many ways regarding your opinion.
I myself have been coming here for about 11 years (I changed my handle in 2001 or 2002 when I moved to a new station and I couldn't remember my "saved" password after changing computers). To say things have changed not exactly for the better would be a pretty gross understatement.
What drew me to this site at first was simply a mention in Hot Rod magazine back around 99. I was already posting on future vehicle areas of other websites including BlueOvalNews and at least 3 other sites at the time, and was still expanding my rolodex of industry contacts mainly for my own information and things to talk about with my dad or the other people at work who shared intrest in what was coming down the line, what was happening behind the scenes, or what was the history of this or that vehicle's development.
Back then, there were quite a lot of people here who shared the desire for facts, and didn't blink when facts contradicted their opinions or beliefs and focused on facts. That type of dispassionate reporting and fact based opinions has turned pretty much into an endangered species. This has especially turned true the past few years. It seems that one honest broker or formerly respectable source after another lost objectivity (and honestly, any resemblence of common sense and logic). Instead of looking at what's best and what's actually going on, it turned into opinions, dogma, and politics.
In my case, I just got tired of debating morons, and moved on to other things. Sure, that's always the case, but there's better things to do in life and with limited free time for the internet than trying to point out things to some who refuse to be educated.
I still come here because I honestly like the moderators, and there are quite a few people still here I consider friends. But I don't spend as much limited time here as I once did. I'm sure others (including Scott, perhaps) feels much the same way.
I like this site, and to a large degree, I owe a lot to it.
But there's other places where you can talk to those in the industry and share well thought out opinions without having to talk to rocks or rock throwers.
You lose your sanity that way.

I hardly post here at all these days as well since most of what I read in the section I monitor the most tends to annoy or **** me off and for the most part I just shrug my shoulders and let the things I don't agree with roll off my back as I pick out the pieces of info I do value. This thread being an exception
and I apologize to the OP for getting of track in the first place. If there was more traffic in the sections I used to post in prolifically like the 4th gen tech sections and even the general forum (are crackheadmatt and backnblack still there?) maybe I would be more inclined to visit them again and get a different, better feel for this site.Still I have learned a lot from this site in particular about my first 4th gen and the 2nd one I still own and I've met a few good people that have taught me even more Scott being one of them.
Feel free to PM me with any other sites I can get good information at.

The "Magic" this place had was the people both important that this place attracted and more importantly imo the average person by the thousands, the "fanboys" as you like to call them that discussed the Camaro (granted more 4th gen than any other generation) day in and day out. That helped new owners with fixing problems they may have been having with their cars or provided guidance and/ or instructions for modding their cars. People that helped prospective new owners with feedback they could actually use to better make a purchasing decision as important as buying a new car. People that weren't shot down repeatedly for liking something that maybe some didn't.
Believe me I know what you think of the 5th gen. The last thing I'm going to do is repeat the mantra you already spew ad nauseum for the rest of us and GM to read... again. Maybe you could put all that fire and passion for a 6th more to your liking based on all the 5th gen deficiencies you constantly remind us of into a letter, e-mail and phone call directly to GM every single day 365 days a year instead of trying to be a squeaky wheel here?
