2010 Soap Box Derby Camaro
2010 Soap Box Derby Camaro

We would like to present the North East Ohio Camaro Club sponsored Soap Box Derby Camaro.
We have created a 2010 Camaro as much as we could within the derby rules. Only graphics are permitted and we buffed and sanded out the red molded body. No painting is permited.
My son just turned 8 and just became old enough to drive so we started with a late start. So far we have a 6th and 7th place out of fields of 20+ cars on the hill in Akron Ohio.
A lot of the credit goes to my sons driving as he never saw the hill before but has been driving the car well and carrying a lot of speed.
We used a single black stripe on the top as two small stripes just did not look too good on a car this thin. We incorperated the new Hockey Stick stripe into the side and the new Camaro logo with the current Chevy bow tie. We also placed the Club logo in a white roundo like the old Trans Am cars used to carry.
The rules are pretty tight and we are limited to what we could do. If we could have painted it I am sure my son would have chosen the Bumble Bee as the car we would have built as it is his favorite.
Also fitting we the team transporter is an SS as in Chevy HHR SS. It is a little tight but we can get this 6 foot car in and get it to the race in no time.
A special thank you goes to the North East Camaro Club and all their members for their support. Times are tight and we really appreciate their help and are proud to display their logo on the side of the car.
We will be displaying this car at the North East Camaro Clubs Giant F body show in September. We hope you can all make it as this will be one show you will not want to miss.
FYI: we feel the graphics are good for 5 MPH alone not to mention the intimidation factor! LOL! I will post updates soon as we have 3 races in the next two weeks. The big Akron Metro Derby will be a real test for us!
