What about a Firebird kit?

What about a Firebird kit?

Has anyone thought of producing a Firebird Body kit? A front bumper, some sort of dual/dual projector head lights system, shaker hood, and a different set of dual horizontal tail lights, and a spoiler? I'm sure interior gauges could be changed to red and anything with "Camaro or Chevy" on it, could be removed.

Sure it would be costly, but it was just a thought.

I think a lot of us have thought about it, and renderings have been made, but it's up to a large aftermarket company to decide if it makes business sense to produce them. And there's always the question of how far you go with the changes. Doing things like headlights gets very expensive for both production and certification. And it would certainly cost thousands of dollars to buy a kit that you're putting on a brand new car, plus the cost to paint it to match. It's a nice thought, but hard to make a reality. It might be more feasible if lots of 5th gen camaros are sold in the next few years and there are good deals to be had on used ones.

HCX is doing a 'Cuda version of the Challenger, so I could see something like that being done. HCX should consider it, also using the Challenger lights would be a possibility if doing a first gen style, they are the right size and are a dual arrangement on a new car...the only one I can think of unless you cannibalized some BMW lights. The shark gills would be an issue. Adding some 'glass T/A fenders would be easy, and a hood to match the nose would be easy. A new bumper cover front/rear would be necessary, possibly with a set of new billet/LED first gen firebird taillights that are already available It would take a lot of work and money. That's why I just built a real on instead....I could have a new SS with rims and a blower for what I've blown on it though. Argh.

If there is a big enough demand for such a kit, I'm sure some aftermarket company will take the gamble and manufacture a kit. Still not the same as the real thing though.

a kit to change a 5th gen camaro into a 5th gen firebird would be incredibly expensive, if done right. remember, a firebird wasn't just a new front end and taillights, but a completely different styled car. some years the camaro was prettier and some years the firebird was, and most time a lot of people felt that they were the same, but they weren't.

personally, a kit just wouldn't cut it for me.
