Question Interior Ambient Lighting

Sorry if this has been posted before, I did a search but came up with nothing.

I keep going back and forth on this feature. I am worried about how it will stand up log term use. Will the plastic scratch easy will it discolor because of sun etc, will debris be able to fall behind the plastic and be visible?

I know this is “new” for a car but do any of the disciples or anyone that has seen it have any ideas on the long term durability of the ambient lighting system?

FYI: The Plastic will be there no matter if you get the Interior Ambient Lighting or not.

Unfortunately I am not in the know on your durability question.

my mom's S550 Mercedes has a similar lighting thing. That was one of things that hooked my dad into buying it.

ON that car the lighting is hidden under/behind a ledge that runs across the dash and doors whic also protects it. You can also adjust the intensity of the light from very noticable to just enough to be able to see anything.

Those Germans did a very good job of making the inside of the car very easy to see without any really noticable lights.

I'm very curious how close the Camaro's lighting is to the Mercedes.

I want it. I just don't know how long I'll want it, so I hope there's a way to disable it.

Makes me wonder if it won't be available on certain colors. For instance...most cars won't have a red interior accent package available for, lets say, a green car. I imagine that the orange will be the same way, seeing as how it sounds like it comes with the orange stitched leather and trim pieces....would probably look like crap with Aqua Blue.

the plastic will not change in color, it is the lighting that will change from either blue or orange depending on what options you choose.

Yeah I am really excited about this, however I really hope GM makes a switch to turn it off.

I believe the "plastic inserts" they are referring to are for the interior trim, not the lighting.

I am also interested to know how the lighting will function. Guess I will have to wait a few more months.
