Angry First Blemish on 13

Was detailing my new Hot Wheels last Sat. and noticed a scratch through the paint on the front bumper cover (about 15 mm long). Not sure when or how it occurred as the weather has been so bad in PA, the car only has 100 miles on it. It was either there when I took delivery of the car, or it happened on the ride home from the dealer. After about 4 hours of cussing like a drunk sailor, I need some opinions on what to do to fix. I'd hate to have the entire cover resprayed, but are the repair kits (like Dr. Colorchip) a viable alternative? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: First Blemish on 13

It's very difficult to read the depth or extent of a scratch from a photo. If you drag your fingernail over the scratch, does it catch? If not, there is hope with a high quality micro-polish. While use of abrasive polishes should be avoided, and used only as the last resort, that may be your only hope.

If your nail does not catch in the scratch (appears its really a "scrape" on the body crease) try a non-abrasive polish like this one.

Z-5 PRO Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches: Zaino Store

If your nail catches, try a mild abrasive, but avoid using it beyond the scratch if at all possible:

Z-PC Fusion Dual Action Paint Cleaner Swirl Remover: Zaino Store

These are just examples of one brand of quality polishes that I am familiar with and have used. There are others, like Meguiar's.
