Any idea how big these will be or where they will be located? I wouldn't mind a spring loaded set coming out of the dash at the push of a button or somewhere close to the dash so when you hit the brakes they have the support right there.

The 4th gen used to advertise that they were big enough to accomodate a slurpee cup but there wasn't much for support there if you had to hit the brakes.

I think my CD player fried from injesting too much slurpee over the years.

 

I am not sure if it was one of the few things that were not complete on the pre-prod cars, but they were decent sized. They were right in front of the storage console between the seats and behind the gear shift. This might be one of those things that were the 5% that weren't final or complete, but I don't think there was any other location that would have worked better.

 

did the pre-prod cupholders seem to be in the way if there was something in it when shifting like the 4th gens? I know it could change, but just wondering if you noticed that with these cars. Maybe if it was deep enough it wouldn't be a big deal

 

Nothing like the slurpee splashing on the dash.. I usually chug a bunch before putting it in the cupholder just in case. I hope the new Camaro's cupholders are a bit better too!

 

any place is. they could put it beside the shifter like the vette or one on each side. behind a shifter is always going to be wrong due the fact your arm goes there.

 

JUST had a cupholder experience woman pulled out in fron of me, I jumped on the brake and half of my large sweet tea made its way to the bottom of the shift boot
it reminded of this thread

 

sweet tea is never good at the bottom of any boot .i feel your pain man.my condolences.

 

I believe Jason means on the side of the shifter closest to the engine, not on the 93-95 side of the shifter on the 4th gens.

ie: If you're sitting in the drivers seat, the far side of the shifter is the side closest to the engine.

Correct. To clarify my earlier post, oh yeah...there are plenty of places that would have worked better, but the design prevents it. The shifter is just a bit too close to the HVAC and radio area, which hangs down a bit low. And of course...those console gauges that everyone loves would have to go as well.

 

The problem here is that darn stick for manuals. Time for paddle shifters, that way you free up that space and can put cup holders there.

 

I thought GM was in the business of designing cars, not restaurant seating! I would prefer if this "performance/muscle" car came without cup holders. Less distraction and allows you to enjoy the road again. No cupholders in my 3rd gen and there never will be.

 

the cup holders look deep enough in the pics to not be an issue it seems. if you don't have cup holders, where are you going to keep the spare change?
