Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by a low-power signal with complete electrical isolation between control and controlled circuits, or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal.

Just standard SPST Switches are needed for this application.

A relay is a switch. (basically) I do not use the word relay very often because most everyday people do not understand relay. I do not have a need to make other people feel dumb so I use laymens terms as much as possible. But you asked.

SPST = Single Pole Single Throw - AKA - Toggle switch

I used to know the SPST term, It has been a while and I didn't recognize it. I get the concept myself, but I was thinking it would be helpful to those who know absolutely nothing about electronics. That should help, thanks!
