Need tires for my 96 with Draglites
Hello all. I need help getting the right brand and size of tires for my car. It's a 96 SS manual. I got 15x10 Draglites with a 7.5 bs and 15x7 with a 4.5 bs. I have the 5/16 spacer for up front and I also have longer ARP wheel studs installed. Now I just need the tires. I want a drag looking tire but would like some longevity if possible. I was looking at the Mickey thompsons but would like some ideas. And I have no clue on the size. Need some advice.

Do you want to stay near the stock tire diameter (25.7")?
For street use, based on the feedback I have seen, the Nitto's seem to have better wet traction (still not great) and tread life than the other drag radials. In the NT 555R they have a 275/50-15 that meets the diameter requirement, but is recommended for a 7.5" - 9.5" wheel. Hoosier also makes a drag radial in that size, and recommends a wheel width of 8.0" - 10.0". BFG and M/T also make that size, with a diameter of 26.1" and a recommended max wheel width of 9.5".
For the fronts, a 215/65-15 works. It has a 26.0" diameter, and typically works with a 6.0" - 7.5" wheel width. Just make sure the tire has the same load rating as the stock tires on your car.

WOuld anyone recommend a Mickey Thompson Sportsman SR? Just going to be a weekend cruiser basically. I wanted the Weld look though so I have the draglites. Is there other tires that I should be looking at? If not i'm going to order the Sportsmans I believe.

The Sportsman SR 26x12.00R15LT looks like the best match. The section width is 12.0", so it might need a bit if inner fender liner hammering. Hard to tell. I've never tried them, and don't know anyone who has.
I run 28x10.5-15W ET Drag on my 15x10" Weld Pro-Stars, and the 13.1" section width has not been a problem, but I already had the inner fenders hammered for 315/35's.
With the 26x12.00R15LT in the back, run the 26x8.00R15LT in the front.

Re: Need tires for my 96 with Draglites
Well I got my Sportsman Sr's mounted on the draglites but Im unable to put the rear wheels on due to the inner fender hitting the tire. It's hitting right where it sticks out the most (obviously) looks like some kind of bump stop maybe? Like a little plate with two screws in it? DOn't know what it is but I want to hit it with a sledge hammer. Has anyone done this? ANy suggestions are appreciated and needed.

Re: Need tires for my 96 with Draglites
You have to use the FAQ.... there are pictures, etc. My fenders/bump stop bracket had already been hammered for 17x11 wheels with 315/35 tires. So I didn't need to do anything else when I installed the Pro-Stars and slicks:
