94 Z28 contro arm question

I recently had my car flunk Pennsylvania inspection because of worn bushings in both control arms. I went to another service station to verify this problem before I got it fixed and they advised that yes it was needed.. After completing the work the steering seems so rigid and when you turn the steering wheel it will not automatically straighten out but basically stays in the turning position and you have to manually straighten out the wheel yourself. I contacted the shop after a short drive and was advised that after doing this type work the car would need an alignment which they originally recommended. The other shop said an alignment was not necessary if it was properly aligned when it was brought in. Can anyone advise me what to do?

Thanks

Re: 94 Z28 contro arm question

after replacing those bushings you probably need an alightment.

But to be honest your steering being stiff and not returning on its own sounds like the steering rack is improperly adjusted.
