It is a good invention, but it is just another thing to drive you crazy and keep checking every couple of minutes while you are away from your car.

I believe most of them work through your antenna so if your in the mall or something it's not going to be much help. They have a few that can page through the remotes and those seem to work a lot better.

I had these in my thirdgens with a motion sensor as well. They were crimestoppers 2 way fm pager/remotes. Had a lcd screen on the remote that showed the status of the car whether it was just bumped with the shock sensor, or if the door is open. They're like $150 on ebay. They have remote start, trunk release and lock/arm unlock/diarm buttons. I liked it. It honestly saved me a few times. The one time I was in the house, and my pager went off, didn't hear the 2 sirens going off, went outside and chased 3 teenage kids down the street into another car. So, I think it's worth it.

I have a Viper (DEI) pager on mine and it works great. I have a range of about 2 miles and it will work inside buildings. I've been in class before and my car across campus (about 1/2 mile away) and have my bepper go off during class. And yes, it has gone off before inside the mall. I highly recommend it.

I used the search and saw this thread but wanted to ask a question...
I want to get a alarm with pager on the remote. I want to get a really nice alarm, might as well spend some money to save all the money I've spent on the stereo. Which brand and model of alarm is one of the best?? About how much is it? Thanks

wow, didn't think i'd see this one surface...
an alarm is only as good as it's components, i've used audiovox alarms that worked just as good as an alpine or some of the other top end units.
my best suggestion to anyone looking to get an alarm is to understand what it's meant to do and install parts or accessories that will be useful to your needs....and your budget.
i've had many different alarms through various companies and i found dei to have the best options for the price with little complaints from the actuall product.......now their customer service is a joke and that's a whole nother story entirely. if money wasn't an option you wouldn't be asking this question though would you.
update on my project: pager is now installed and works excellent........again dei tech support is a joke unless your an authorized installer they will give you NO help so make sure you know how to install. to those who remember way back, the cameras work well and i almost have all the bugs worked out on the laptop linkup......i can get picture no problem; it's just getting it to wake the computer up with the alarm that's the problem. works beautiful if you have it on all the time though.

A few people have emailed me on the pagers and they are great at least some. The strongest is the DEI it is the only 4watt pager left it realistically reaches 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile. I suggest the vibrating one since you dont want to hear that beeping especially if you prox. sensors. I saw the ones on ebay they have a lot of features but they are only a little over a half watt as to dei's 4 watt setup. every 2watts=1mile if the world were flat with no buildings or trees so... I hope this helps.

looks to me like they spent more time on the little lcd remote than anything else.....unfortunately companies like dei cost more than that and you won't get the "fancy" features; but they are known to work.
i've personally never heard of the company, doesn't mean anything though......it could be good but i wouldn't take a chance on something that has more emphasis on what the lcd remote can do then the actual alarm itself.
the truly good systems are the ones that are custom built to your needs.......you won't find that packaged in a box.
good luck.
