Wastegate and BOV Size

Im looking for some wastegate and bov help. Im looking at a xo2 racing 44mm wastegate because Im going to be running low boost 6-7lbs with a MP t70 so it should spool pretty fast. I just want to make sure that the wastegate will be sufficent because all the bigger ones start with 9lb springs.

And for a bov reccomendations as well. Turbo newb sorry.

So I have been back and forth with one of the XO2 reps and even the 44mm comes with a minimum spring of 9psi, but some people have used Tial 44mm springs and been fine (they have 5psi springs).

Aside from the spring issue, a 44mm gate will be fine. Justin had no problem running low boost with his 44mm gate.

Supposedly Jose at forcedinductions used a turbosmart 38mm on his 383 setup.

For a BOV... anything really. You could get the 50mm Tial, the 50mm XO2 BOV, the JGS BOV. You could also look into the Raptor BOV and some of the other Non Tial style BOV's

I used two ebay 25mm BOVs for dirt cheap and so far they work. Sound kind of neat too.

I am running a turbonetics 42mm racegate - Haven't really tested it much yet.

Mine have round heads not hex, but the same design. Downside is they do not bolt or clamp on, but with just hoses and good clamps they have stood up to 10psi a few times so far.

So far my 70 has made boost incredibly fast. I fear it is a bit small for a heads/cam small block. But we will see where it goes.

Well realquik did you ever resolve the problem with them about the 9 pound spring? Do they(xo2) have other springs or just that one?

Their wastegates (particularly) the 60mm is based of the HKS design and uses the HKS springs (which 9psi is the smallest). Sounds like you can use a Tial spring on the 44mm though.
