E*motive SDI... cam ?

For any of you that have run this setup mabe you can help. With the e-motive setup the opti is completely done away with. When going to a roller timing setup I am of course going to go with a CSI(ect) waterpump.. Now the question is with out the opti which parts can I remove from the setup.. Will any 87+ Soild Roller cam work? And BTW are there any known issues with the SDI setup and solid rollers? Paging FRED>>>>> Is the FAST system compatable with the SDI?? Now back to the Timing cover... I the dowl pin is gone could you change to a standard SBC timing cover? (The car is a 93)

I ran the E'motive Opti-Eliminator/SDI on what was basically a stock, bolt-on LT1 engine. I left the Opti in place, and the entire front of the engine - cam, timing set, etc was stock. Current setup is Opti optical sensor->MoTec M48Pro->MoTeC IEX->8 LS1 coils, so I don't know if the FAST and E'motive setups are compatible, but I would assume that since its just a crank trigger, you could use it.... but I honestly do not know. Can't think of any possible problems with using the SDI on a solid roller.... it's no more than a simple cam trigger driven/lost spark ignition.

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. You only need an "Opti-Eliminator" if you are going to try and keep the stock PCM in the car, for non-engine related items. If you are using a FAST, why would you want the Opti-Eliminator? OR am I just assuming you meant Opti-Eliminator because you mentioned with the SDI the Opti is completely done away with?

Never actually measured, but the Gen 2 timing cover looks like it is a slightly different shape than the Gen 1 timing cover, but again - I don't know. The LT1 cover has three bolts across the top, the Gen 1 only has 2 bolts??????

With the FAST system I still retain the old ECM for non related controls. The FAST system would allow me to run 6 coils how? I want to eliminate the 7k limit that comes with the stock ECM. What parts would I need to get this done. I looked at a few other peoples setups and I dont know if Iam up to setting up a cam sync. Any help would be great!
