aftermarket fuel pump..... trouble trouble trouble
I bought a auto zone 170$ fuel pump for my car because mine went out. Installed, everything was fine. pulled the line by the filter and turned the key over, sure enough fuel went everywhere. Went to start the car, same no start. took it to the dealership and turns out the the fuel pump did not create enough pressure. Is a GM fuel pump the way to go or is there any other brands of fuel pumps that might be recommended? has this happened to any of you guys? It will be easy to change but I dont want to do it over and over and over till I find a pump that wonts. Any help will be appreciated.

Should have went with a PnP Racetronixs kit for less than that $170 you blew at Autozone.

autozone is never the way to go. now you are out the 170 for the pump, your time and effort to change it, the tow to the dealership, and the dealership diagnostic. not much of a savings is it? on the other hand a GM unit could be had for around 250 or a walbro or other reputable brand for about the same or less. not to bust your balls on this but as far as f-bodies go, stay the hell away from autozone. autozone is only good when your 82 tercel dies over the weekend and you need it by monday morning, and even that is a stretch for them.

Racetronix FTW. Cheaper and better quality than anything you would find at "the zone".

Check out Thunder Racing, one of the supporting vendors, you can get the Racetronix fuel pump for a 140 bucks. That pump will have no problems creating enough fuel pressure to feed your motor.

I bought the Walbro high flow for up to 600 hp for 110.00 on the big E. Never heard of a problem from others on this part. The one for stock is under a hundred and the cut out idea makes this an easy change and easy to go back later.

Thanks alot for the replies...even the one about busting my balls. I understand error of my ways now. I learned the lesson the hard way I guess. well I will try out the racetronics one will be my next buy I suppose. Where is the best place to get one? I will try the ones posted on the thread first . Like I mentioned above, I believe Thunder Racing is one of the cheaper places to snag one. Regular price they go for 140.00, but I bought mine when Thunder was doing a nice 20% off sale so I saved a pretty good buck.

if electricity runs through it or it moves DO NOT buy it from autozone, walbro,gm,racetronix,bbk are all good pumps
