Re: fuel pump relay?
Take a paper clip and jump the relay terminals and if it fixes your problem you know it's your relay. You can also just swap relays with a known good one too.

Wow I have this problem too. However it is very intermittent. Did you ever resolve this?
Thanks

Ok guys. I found my problem. I had two symptoms....
One where the fuel pump relay would click like heck...like a machine gun...
That was very intermittent.
Also intermittent, my car would not start. It would not prime and I could not hear the fuel pump relay click to prime the fuel pump. I found this the hard way. On a 0 degree night and the wind blowing like crazy. I called a tow truck and they said 30 minutes. So I decided to kick the left foot rest (where the relay is located) and the car started and made it home...
I bought a new relay, but that did not solve the problem. The problem was the connector. While the car was running, I wiggled the wires going to the connector and the relay would respond (click) and sometimes the car would die.
I just replaced the connector (about $27 for the part). Now the relay does nothing when I wiggle the wires. I think I have finally fixed a problem I have had, intermittently, for the last couple of years...WooHooo

Just a follow up, my #$%&#@# fuel pump relay chattered like a machine gun the other night. Had to have my car towed home. Next afternoon it starts fine..
I am sick of dealing with it and going to look for a 2002 WS6...
This thing is so intermittent it makes my car useless, since I never know when it is going to do it..

Guys here is another update. My firebird is getting less reliable. This fuel pump relay problem is very intermittent. However tonight it stayed for a long time. I had my friend over, who is a mechanic at a dealer. We back probed at the fuel pump relay. I only had 9.6v at the green/white wire. He said I should have more there. So we jumpered 12v to the green/white wire and the relay energized and the fuel pump ran. Unhooked the wire and we were back tothe relay chattering like a machine gun. Trace the Green/white all the way back to the PCM. I had the same voltage coming out there. So I tried wiggling the connector no luck. I tapped the PCM with one of my rachets and everything started working.
So it either one of the connectors on the PCM or the PCM that is bad.
I will post more when I figure it out. I just wished I had a pcm laying around here :-)
BTW...I gave up on this 96 V6 firebird last week and bought a 2002 WS6 Collector Edition TA.
Little did I know we would be able to trace this back so quickly. I have been fightning this for over 3 yrs. It was very intermittent, but it is starting to show itself more and more now.
