Unhappy ls1 key fob problems

I have a 2000 trans am, the fob that i have wont program with the car, or somethin wierds happening. i do the off-on 3 times, with the radio fuse out and the doors lock and the trunk pops like described, i then hold the lock/unlock buttons for 15 seconds and nothing happens? replaced the battery 3 times tryed both sides, still nothing. I took a fob from a grand prix, same buttons, same #'s on the back of the fob, tryed 2 program it to my trans am (just 2 see if it was just my fob was broke) and it still wouldnt program with my car. any ideas? maybe if i disconnected my battery and reconnected maybe it would reset something?

Is it a replacement fob, did it work before? I'd look up the FCC ID# at http://autotechs.com/fcc/fccidsearch.htm For GM it also gives the PN that matches it and what models/years they work on in most cases.

Post the FCC ID number/part number on your remote, might be the wrong one. For instance KOBLEAR1XT has different part numbers for different GM cars/years but can look the same.

The dealer has to program it for you.

Dealer doesn't have to program it - seen posts where people bought cars without one, had the RPO code, bought one and programmed it and it worked fine.

Although it looks the same, believe that's the wrong remote.
