Will the Neon SRT4 be a classic after its replaced by 5-door Caliber

Will the Neon SRT4 will become a classic after its replaced by the heavier and more expensive 5-door Caliber.

It won't be really missed if Chrysler decides to stuff EVO mechanicals under the new car. AWD 286hp Caliber SRT-4 > Fwd 260hp (dyno 230 to front wheel) Neon SRT-4.

Just speculation, but i'm sure Dodge will give the new car the SRT treatment as well and the EVO rumors have been going around for sometime now.

If the Caliber gets some Mitsu/Evo stuff under the hood for the SRT version it will sell for over $30,000 easily.

I expect it to be a bit cheaper than that, but something in that range should be about right. If they go that route, the days of the cheap 20k econo-rocket SRT-4 is over.

You're right, the Dodge version will most likely be cheaper then the mitsu version but Im sure that the next-gen Pt-Cruiser will get a fast version too that will be slightly more expensive then the Dodge as well.

Considering these cars wont come out to the 07 model year, Im sure their retail prices will reflect the cost increases in parts, materials, healthcare , and etc in 2007/08 dollars.

Am I the only one here who suspects the Mini-Magnum-like Caliber will be followed up with a sedan that more closely replaces the Neon a year or so later?

I can only assume that there will be a sedan derivative eventually, but I can't see why they'd been in a hurry to build a money losing bodystyle?

Was the Omni GLH a "classic?" Were there any "classic" K-car derivatives? What about the Shelby badged models? The answer is no, no and NO.

The Neon SRT-4 is the last blast from the old pre-Daimler Chrysler. In a decade, most SRT-4 will have disappeared and the survivors won't be especially sought after. Yes, the Neon will be forgotten - and rightly so.

Right now, it should be obvious that MOPAR is back in the performance business but it's a HEMI revival. Look for the SRT-8 badge to become the future classic.

The SRT-4 will be a completely new car after the Neon dies, separate from the Caliber. The SRT-4 isn't dying, and the Caliber isn't going to be it.

I think it will be fondly remembered. If anything it will be akin to the Grand National. The car that nobody suspected but quickly started making people wake up and take notice. Especially considering how LARGE of a base that car developed over three years coupled with the fact it lead off Dodge's revival in the performance world so to speak I think it'll get it's due remembrance and respect.

I don't think in 20 years people will be breaking the bank to get one but it will be favorablely remembered unlike the GLH and GLHS stuff.

20 years later GLH's are still sought after. The GLHS's are even beginning to fetch some real money.

If I could find a relatively unmolested GLH-T in my area...I'd ****** it up in a second.

I should have never sold my '84 GLH.

Fondly remembered yea probly, but I wouldn't relate it to the Grand National. GN's can still snag some pretty good bucks. After 20 years I'm sure a SRT-4 with 100,000+ miles would go for pretty cheap

It's possible but it's also possible it could keep it's value. Even the 03 SRTs aren't showing massive hits in real life resale.
