LT4 Short Block For Sale...

As the title states, got this block as a part trade for an '89TTA about a year ago. I took the heads off and that's about it. Block is complete and came from a wrecked Grand Sport Vette with right under 30k miles. Included is the complete rotating assembly, cam & lifters, timing set, cover, oil pump, pickup, optispark (although the cap may have been damaged moving it here from Connecticut), and the water pump. I may still have the LT4 valve covers as well, and this motor has a flexplate attached, you can have it as well, I have all manual cars. I was gonna build this block up, but have too many projects going right now and still need to get the Z running, so best offer will take this motor. The stock vette oil pan is damaged, probably from moving it back and forth, but it was that way when I got it. No signs of internal damage whatsoever, 4-bolt mains of course, no indication of spun bearings, etc. Give me a call @ 904-327-7863 if interested. I hate to get rid of it, but it will be a long time before I can utilize this, I'd rather see someone here locally make this 'tard run and put it to use. Thanks.

Im somewhat interested, if nobody else takes it you can shoot me an e-mail. I would probbaly go $500 on it, especially if you had the valve covers.

I would have to look into it to be sure. I have my 400 block that goes to the machine shop next week, but its bare. I know that i would have to buy new pistons but if I can get information on how tough the crank and rods are, in the LT4 I may go with that. But if I have to buy a complete rotating assembly for that too, then Ill probbaly jsut with with my extra CI.

Why would there be a flexplate for an automatic when all LT4s were stick shifts?

Re: LT4 Short Block For Sale...

From what I was told, the person(s) whom I traded this motor/car with had the full intentions of using this in an auto-equipped pickup, believe it or not. After loss of interest and a turbo buick/TA liking is why the went with the deal I laid them on the table. Ain't often you trade a complete LT4 longblock & cash for a turbo trans am, but under the circumstances, I couldn't pass up the deal. The car had severe front subframe damage that would have cost me a fortune to replace.

In short, the flexplate was installed in prep for this motor going into a truck. I received the motor complete, with the following stock components attached: heads, oil pan, balancer, timing cover, optispark, water pump, and said non-stock flexplate.
