First 3rd gen kill - A rookie's Tale.

So there i was, idling away with my girl in the car at a 2 lane stop light that eventually turns into one lane, when out of no where comes this snarling beast of an IROC, red with a 3-4" cowl on it... This burbling exhaust that i could hear over mine, and looked like he had some pretty beefy tires. Now this thing was loud, louder than my Single chamber flowmaster catbacks with hiflow cat... and i could tell it had a higher duration cam and most likely intake.

He pulls up... stops about half a length behind and me, and slowly pulls forward. He has a friend in the car, and both of them eyeing me. Then he throws a rev and it seemed to shake the earth, and i throw one right back at him, and we both kind of got intimidated. Now i couldn't tell if his was a manual or not, but i have an automatic, and i don't really know how to race because lets face it, the track is 80 miles away. (times in sig are from previous owner, have timeslips) Now i did what i figured would be best, i dropped it from OD into first, fully pushed in the brake and took the car up to about 2,000 rpms, RIGHT before it was about to powerbrake. This light seemed to go on forever, but finally traffic slowed... and i knew what was about to happen, and so did he. He began to show signs of a prepared launch, and we both knew what was about to go down.

The Light turned Green, and i immidiatly sent my girl's head into the back of her seat, and my car ROARED with anger as i dropped the brake and floored it. The car broke loose for about half a second and then gained complete traction. My oponent launched without a hold up and gained a half on me right off the bat. However, not willing to give up, i shifted into second at 4800 knowing it wouldnt shift until 5200 or so and it perfectly did so, and i instantly caught up. This is where my powerband really kicks in and the shift into third sent me flying by him and i instantly gained a length or 2 on him at about 70 MPH, where the lanes eventually merged and i took the lead. He then decided to follow for a while and then eventually turn off.

Talk about adrenaline... i was so proud of my car i kissed the steering wheel.

Heh, my girl didn't like that
