PLEASE HELP - questions on 383 stroker
i built a high performance 383 stroker and dropped it in my 1978 chevy 4x4. i have to move to sacramento now (3 hour drive from where i live now) and i have no exhaust.. just straight headers.. is it safe to run it for that long with just headers? i dont think anything will warp when i shut her down cuz its like 114 in sacramento. im mainly wondering about back pressure problems.. please let me know thanks a lot.

late models and sprint cars run open headers in circle track for 100 laps at a time (approx 30 minutes) and dont warps valves. this is at high load, extreme rpm, and around 700 to 830 hp. Never had a problem. Might be a good ticket though!!!!!!!

with the shorty headers, though, you've got the exhaust exiting right in the engine bay, as opposed to under the car. I'd be concerned about exhaust gasses possibly entering the cabin, so keep the windows down at the least...
Other than that, the only problem is going to be noise tickets like taylormade mentioned!
