I see all this talk of huge hp numbers on future cars...

Is the general public ready to drive a car with that much hp?!? I mean the thought of middle-class america going out to the dealer with $30-$45k to spend and getting over 400-550?hp....

It scares me a little, hope saftey features and suspensions come a long way.

Its stupid people that go out and drive recklessly. I honestly believe you can kill yourself just as easy in any low power car as a fast one. I hardly ever hear about auto related deaths in high powered cars. The last two horrible accidents I can remember involved stupidity not high powered cars. An old Buick Le saber driven by a drunken college kid traveled over in to oncoming traffic at 80 mph killing 6 people. And last summer a 15 year old kid flying through a residential area at an estimated 75 mph with hills, curves and trees ended up splitting the car in half on a street lamp killing 5 people. If you drive a car responsibly you wont have any problem. The Darwin theory in theory should kill off these idiots no matter how much power they have. Cars back in the 60’s had a whole lot worse set up than the cars today and in my opinion were a lot more dangerous.
