My Hatch motor....ARGGH!

Well my battery died yesterday and I thought I left a door open, so I go to a friend's house and it died again. I know there is a slow drain but I don't know from where. Then I popped my trunk to find out my 6 month old motor is giving me trouble. I think it fell off of its track and cracked the plastic casing. Is there anyway I can make it non-motorized? I want to take it out of the car entirely and see if it still kills my battery as well. I think I over loaded my car with guitar equipment and that is why the motor broke. So now it keeps sending a signal to the relay to do something, or something stupid like that.

In summary, any tips on how to make it non-motorized?

Sorry to hear about your motor troubles, I have never had problems with mine. I don't know any methods of making the hatch unmotorized, maybe look at a fourth gen hatch and see if they can be swapped? Personally I love the hatch motor, mines working great *knock on wood*.

As for the battery drain, check your stereo wires and all other visible wires for shorts, maybe a hot wire got fried to the chassis.

Sorry I can't be of more help but am more than happy to do what I can for a fellow thirdgenner, we all know they are the best F-Bodies .

I am slowly pulling fuses and seeing how much drain there is. If anyone knows how many mA the car draws while just sitting with motor off and all doors closed, that would be excellent. Thanks.

I had loads of problems with mine. Stripped it, replaced relays and it still would not work properly. In the end I disconnected it and pushed the whole motor/catch assembly as far down it would go so the hatch shuts when I push down on it.
