I have a Kenwood head unit (kdx-mp8015 I think) and I want to put it in my 96 Z28.

I have just the head unit, no harness. I called a few places about installs, and got from $70-100 total for install.

Is it really that hard to install myself and make it look good? If it's not hard, what do I need to do it? The harness and the kit?

If that's all, what is the best kit that doesn't look like crap? In my 94 Formula I had someone install it, and it came out looking like crap. I would like it to look nice and tight. Any general help to lead me in the right place would be greatly appreciated!

go buy a harness from a stereo shop and do it yourself

What kind of speakers are you going to run?



Just making sure that you know the Bose sh** all sucks and you're going to have to tear all of it out. (oh darn)

 

Don't forget you need a kit and antenna adaptor. Try to find the Scosche kit. It's the best looking kit I have seen for that setup. Either way unless you get an EQ or have some switches you want to put in the dash then your going to have the blank space around the radio due to GM's idotic din and a half radios. Also if you have the Bose like said before then you are going to want to change out the speakers because even though you can get the Kenwood to play through the Bose amps it is really going to sound like complete ***.

 

If you want a flush-fitting kit that fills up the extra space when you install a single-din head unit, you want a METRA kit. They fill up all the space.
