96 BPU Supra vs. S55 AMG vs. Many Camaro's
First, I have a 1996 twin turbo supra auto with exhaust, and a boost controller set at about 18lbs.
Well, I went out driving around tonight looking for some quick cars to race, and the first one I ran into was an S55 AMG, pretty new, still had dealer plates. We went from a dig, and he pulled 1-2 cars on me to about 60, but then once I was solidly in the powerband in 2nd gear(I have an automatic) I shot by him pretty quickly. I was trying to tell him nice car, but everytime I'd come up next to him he'd speed off and wouldn't look over.
My next race was on the freeway, I was lined up 4 wide with 3 other camaro's. I was beating or tying all the guys with intake/headers/exhaust, and got beaten by a guy that runs 11.7@117 with cams on top of all those mods. Very cool guys, and a very fun night.

That wasn't my point of posting, you'll notice I said I was tying or beating the other guys with similar mods to what I have done, and got beaten by one even. I definitely didn't "own" anyone.

Nice races! WELCOME to the site!
I have only had one street run with a supra and he had an aftermarket larger single turbo setup and other mods on his car. We ran from a stop and I had about 6-7 carlengths on him to about 60 and then he started to real me in. He still wasn't next to me until about 110 or so. I really like those cars!

Good kills man. Those supras are lethal on the freeway. And camaros only need one cam

yea, last time out I ran a 13.0@111, my best trap speed ever is 113(and likely about what I was running that night, it was nice and cold). I do have some tuning issues though, I'm safe, but WAY rich, like 9.0 afr rich, maybe worse. I figure with a new computer and tuning, I should be trapping close to 120. All the camaro's were LS1's.

You don't need a new computer! Get a sfc or afc (fuel controllers). That'll allow you to tune your entire fuel curve in 500 rpm increments. Just take the car to a dyno shop with a sniffer and tune it yourself. My car ran awesome with a 12:1 afr, but each one is different....so take your time. Also, remember to keep it a little fat up high for those highspeed runs and go leaner down low for faster spool up.

Nice kills/death.
Welcome to the board.
Those Supras are definitely freeway assassins. (that sounded pretty corny, didn't it?)

yellavette, Im getting the AEM EMS because I plan to go single turbo here before long as well with nitrous. The AEM can control all of that without having to have 5-6 different piggyback systems working together(vpc, gcc, avc-r, safc, etc...). Also, the AEM is great for controlling nitrous which I'll probably have even before the single turbo just for extra juice. Will need it later to spool some turbo with about the displacement of my motor

I ran a friend of a friends supra in some friendly races- about 6 times to be exact. Same scenario each time....we launched together or with me jumping a few feet ahead then it was dead even til 65, and he started walking a few mph and crept away. The supra i raced had mods and i was stock, but all in all it was fun.
