Post 69 Bird Value Please

hey guys,
i was talking to a guy today about a cart he has and i was wondering if anyoen could give me an estimate or point me toward one for a 69 bird.
what i know about teh car:
400 motor
auto
front disc brakes
gold paint, vinyl top, and interior
parked since 1978
no rot any where on outside body or floor pan(surface rust and spot pits only)
trunk pan is a little rough from leaky rear window.
car is 100% complete and orignal
originally a california car, comes with black plates and a few old registration cards

i do not know if the engien will run or not, it hasn't been run in a very long time. i am planning to go see the car in a few weeks to get a real idea of what i am looking at.
the current owner mentioned an asking price of $8000. that sounds a little high for a non-running car, but if it is all there would it be worth it?
i am interested in this car as a cruiser, i would really like to have an all original car if at all possible. does this sound liek a good idea?

thanks guys

later
tim

That's kinda high if there's no proof the original engine runs fine with no cracked block or worse. My cousin sold his 69 Firebird 400 wrong engine wrong color but nice car that ran 12.5's for $5000 a couple of years ago. I would toss him $5-6K at the highest. If you have the VIN, you can contact PHS to verify it really is an original 400 car for less than $50.

Their website is http://www.phs-online.com and you can give them the VIN and they will send you a packet with all the original options that came on the car. I'm not as good with Pontiac numbers but someone from that site can probably help you.
