Post Installing an LS1 in a 2002 Yukon Denaly

I picked up my 2002 Yukon last week and im currently installing a custom 10in lift, I also just picked up an LS1 crate engine and a Paxton supercharger which im going to be installing rite after I finish the lift. Does anyone know what changes I might need to do to get this done correctly?

doesnt the truck already have an ls1 in it, the only difference being the cast iron block, and intake manifold, and it is either a 4.8,5.3,or 6.0

Correct me if I am wrong here, but aside from being "LS1" heads what exactly would that leave?

I'm pretty sure that's a Vortec engine.

I guess you can call it an LS1 derived engine but its not the real thing. before I put the engine in im sending the heads out to be ported with larger valves and a good cam to complement the supercharger. I would like to make around 500hp at the motor and while the engine is out I might as do it rite. Im spending this much cash so what the hell is the difference.

Are you a drug dealer, have a large trust fund, or just posting BS? Anyway, I'd think the cast iron block would be better, since you can bore it out. I'm not sure that Al block will last in a truck.
good luck.

While you are at it, you might want to upgrade the stock internals to handle the supercharger.

Maybe he's the world's greatest gigalo?

if your buying a true denali, it would have the 6.0 325hp in it. your way better off with that than an LS1. just bolt a magnacharger too it and be happy with it. 500hp isn't a problem with the 6.0 liter with more torque than a 5.7. btw for them calling it an LS1, it's not. LS1 is an rpo just as LQ4 is a 6.0 (except cadilac 6.0). LS1 is not a name for an engine. gen III is the term for this series to be correct.

No, Im not a drug dealer just an Honest hard working person asking an Honest question. For all you nosey people asking about my money.....I own a very established Concrete company that employs 45 people. I will have to check into that charger for my Yukon I wasnt aware that they make one for the truck. If that works out better I guess I will put the engine and the charger in my shop for my next project.

gen III smallblock is what i meant when i used the term LS1, anyway i would use the cast iron block, it will be way stronger, not to mention the added displacement from the 6.0
shadowlight-i was refering to the block as the same mold as the ls1, just made of castiron instead of aluminum.

Unless you have already purchased the unit I would steer away from Paxton. Get a good SC like a Vortech. And how much boost are you gonna run?

Yeah, I haven't heard any good things about Paxton...even from the 5.0 blower babies

the magnacharger is the kit lingenfelter uses in his 475hp suv/pickup 6.0 liter package. if it's good enough for him, i'd say it works fine.

Make sure to use the truck intake instead of the LS1. Supposedly they outflow even the LS6 intake! But they have a high profile so they won't fit under f body hoods.

Also, I'd sell that supercharger and have MTI motorsports in texas build you a 382 all bore motor. They use the stock crank and resleeve the block with bigger bores to obtain 382 cubes.

There latest 382 dynoed 480 rwhp through an M6! And the shortblock is only like $5,500. Basically the price of a supercharger without the wear and tear on your motor. Hell, or you could even do both!!!!

650 rwhp????

Well I just picked up a Magnacharger for the truk and that will be going on next week after the lift is done. I guess I will save the LS1 and the charger for my street rod project to shorlty follow.

Thanks
