Would I get the same effect if i used palmolive instead of dawn? I have a pink botttle of palmolive dish liquid...Or do i have to run to the store to get dawn if i want to wash my car with it? Palmolive..good? bad? ok?

Probably, but I'd also clay the car to prep it, this will also remove old waxes, along with the contaminants. If you have already started the Zaino polishing you don't need to use Dawn (or Palmolive) anymore.

I have no zaino stuff at all..its not in the budget right now...but my question is that ihave heard about using dawn to strip wax..but.since i don't have dawn in the house right now....will palmolive do..or is dawn the only one because it is white....does the color of the dish liquid matter?

If you do not have Zaino, FORGET Dawn or Palmolive or whatever, there is not any other kinds of waxes or polishes where you have to wash off the previous kinds of waxes and polishes before use like with Zaino.

not true, if you use Joes wow wax, you have to strip the car first, i hate to say it, but it blows Zaino out of the water, no haze or build up later, its a self cleaner and no petrolium in it like many others, and it works great with the sun, put it on in the sun, wipe off with Viva paper towel 5 hrs later, comes rite off with no hassels, constantly moving on car has NO harmful side effects that show up a year or two later, takes oxidation out with no hassels, and it also helps protect in cold cimates also. ZeeYaa.

I used Joy so I'm sure you can use Palmolive. The idea is to get a grease/oil stripper, which all dishwashing liquids contain.

As for using paper (i.e., wood-based!) towels on my car's paint...

Joes "wow" wax is supposed to be this great synthetic product made by some guy locally in Grand Rapids, MI. A few people have told me to use it on my car, but I think I'll stick with my Zaino.

I too have heard about Joe's wow wax... apparently it's actually really good... the best on the market (or soon to be)...
i'll stick with zaino though since i KNOW it whoops ass.

thats fine, but when you need a new paint job, try to get zaino to pay for it, and who ever told you guys to use dish soap to strip wax off of your car was blowing some serious crack up your back side, the only way to get wax off is with a rubbing compound, not dish soap. and if Zaino is so good, then explane all the white powder i see and swirl marks on the cars with Zaino, also see more cars with Joe's WoW Wax taking more trophy's for best of show and best of paint. you guys crack me up, some body blows a little smoke at ya and ya jump at it. I don't care if Zaino is a sponsor, its bs in a bottle, my buddys black GN had to have a new paint job becuase Zaino ate the clear then the paint, followed all the directions too. sorry, but 35,000.00 car is a lot to gamble with, ill spend $75 on the Joe's WoW Wax kit any day over a 10-15 bottle of Zaino. my .05.

99HUGERZ28, you don't seem to have much of a clue and obviously have never used Zaino. Actually "wax" isn't durable at all. When I used to use it it seemed like every time it rained or I washed my car I had to "wax" it all over again, need polishing compound, give me a break. Not so with Zaino. I agree that using dish washing liquid all the time is not recommended but only once to get rid of any old wax or oils built up on the surface, and it does, and isn't hurting anything. Think of the acid rain and all the other contaminants that get onto our cars, somehow I don't think soap is worse.

My 99 SS never had anything but Zaino on it. When I traded it in, to me it was slighty dirty, but the dealer was afraid to take it into the detail shop and have them screw it up, since it looked so good. It was 3 years old and the best looking car on the lot, thanks to Zaino. It sold the first day they put it on display.

Personally, I wouldn't care if they were or weren't a sponsor of any board, I couldn't care less. If it didn't do a better job than everything else I've tried in over 30 years of taking care of cars, I wouldn't use it, even if it was free. But I guess that also explains why thousands of people on many, many boards use and recommend Zaino and this is now 2 I've heard mention Joe's "wow" wax and 1 of them is a Zaino user. Yep, you have me convinced, I think I know who is blowing BS up our butts and it ain't Sal Zaino.

99HUGERZ28, guess what, the last year for Buick Grand Nationals was 1987 and those cars never had base coat/clear coat paint jobs, it was single stage paints, no clear coat. And also, ALL Grand Nationals where black.
