Question LT1 Alternator Question....

Primarily I'm into Buicks, but I've got a 94 bird with a run of the mill supercharged LT1 in it. Great car. I've driven it about 8k miles in the past 5 years. Only problems I've had besides cosmetics is exhaust leak, bad fuel line for FMU(old powerdyne kit), and replaced the waterpump and optispark as well as alternator(later on), plug wires, and tires(can't keep em from turning over).

My alternator bracket(main acc. bracket) cracked!! My alternator locked up(second time this has happened...I think I now know why...).

I already eliminated the AC with a 1LE pulley.

What are my options? Should I replace the factory bracket with another used one? Should I replace with some other bracket setup since I no longer have AC?
Or should I try to have the bracket that's in there repaired somehow so I don't have to pull?

Not really sure, but I think I'm going to be pulling my powersteering and replacing the entire bracket.

Looking for stock 140amp alternator and bracket as well in parts wanted...
I should mention the car is for sale too, but not posting til I get it fixed. 80k orig. miles, bolt-ons.

Thanks

Where is the bracket cracked at? You could always do a setup like this.

I did a setup similiar to this last weekend for mine. The right side alternator leg gets whacked off. I put a grooved pulley in the left alt bolt hole. The stock alt wouldn't fit in the A/C spot. I used an alt from a 92 TBI camaro. I've heard the S10 alt works also, (different mounting ears). I think that is the alt used in this pic. Pretty simple mod to do. Took about 5 hours. Motor is already out of the car though.

Sweet. That might be the least time consuming approach for me. I've got a 1LE delete on there already. It cracked where you cut your bracket, so I could just leave that alone and clean it up.
I've got plenty of GM alternators...just not a 140 for LT1 F-body. Lots of 120, 108, and 93amps....I wouldn't bother with the latter. Sent you a PM.
Probably gonna fix it back to factory appearing...but...I am selling the car, so what do I care

FWIW, I got the acc. bracket out without disconnecting the PS pump. I even got it out with AC still on there. It takes some wiggling and angling, but it can be done.
