New here, modified 93 Z28

Hi all. I'm Marck from the Netherlands. New here. One of the cars I own is a 93 Z28. I have some small issues with the tranny that I can't seem to figure out so I registered here. Before I swap in a manual to get rid of the soft shifting issues.

It's got a 96 Z28 engine and trans in it and the prev owner wired it to a 94 ECU (apparently easier to tune) but this does not properly control pressure in the trans, the thing shifts a lot harder half throttle than full. I want to be able to put it in the performance mode but I don';t have a **** or an idea how to rig it so it's in that mode all the time. I may just install a T56 to get rid of that issue (have most of what's needed for it)

For the rest it has aftermarket cat back exhaust, koni yellow **** adjustable (Special) shocks, drop springs, C6Z06 brakes, 19" wheels and a red black interior that is flawless. Also has SFCs. Soon it will have tubular rear LCAs, LCARBs and some other suspension mods.

I still want to install a large sunoco rear spoiler, do the 12" rear corvette rotor pbr setup and install headers and fab a new stainless exhaust with a spintech muffler.

This is it (needs new hood struts and the stupid stickers removed from the rad shroud)

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com!!

Generally best to post tech questions in the "tech" forum, where you will get more responses.

I'm surprised the trans works at all. A 94 PCM cannot correctly control the 96 4L60E. In part because of the 94 ECU being programmed and wired for switched torque converter lockup. You can use a 95 program in the 94 PCM (both years use the same PCM) to produce the pulse width modulated lockup used in 95 and later 4L60E's. Was that done?

But that still does not produce the correct match for the 96 and later 4L60E units, which have internal electronic mismatches with the 94/95 PCM. It gets involved, when I'm on my PC rather than an iPad I can give you a link to a breakdown of the differences in the transmissions by year, and the potential for damage when things don't match up.
